LLAP in the next realm, and thank you for all the adventures in this one.

It's been a couple of weeks now since everyone went back and started over on DM1. I hope you all have had a chance to rank up and prestige up as much as you've wanted. Surprisingly, I think a lot of us had kind of a warm, nostalgic kind of feeling re-living all the "challenges" we went through so many years(!) ago. Okay, maybe not so warm and nostalgic, but they somehow seemed way more trivial and easily achieved this time around, didn't they? But there is one challenge that never was trivial or easy - getting your shotgun grip. As we all know, a shotgun without a grip is about effective as a straw and some spit-wad. You can inflict some damage, but it takes a carefully placed shot. And we've also been quite delighted when our spit-wad shooter suddenly became a weapon of lethal destruction once a grip was strapped on. It takes 25 kills with a naked shotgun to earn a grip. And so with that in mind... Saturday February 28 is "Get a Grip Day" All day Saturday, we'll work on getting our grip by using shotguns only. This will be an honor system; the server won't force you to only have a shotgun, but you will be expected to get with the program and use only your shotgun. Once you get your grip, letting others get a sacrificial kill or two on you would certainly be appreciated by those still trying to make the grade. And please continue to play without a grip even after you've earn yours because it really is an unfair advantage against those who don't have one yet. Again, honor system on all of this, but expect to take some flack, or even get a friendly kick if you're just not playing along. If you miss this one, or if you still want to prestige-up some more before going for your grip, we'll probably have another Get a Grip Day in the not too distant future. Other DM1 Server News: Over time I'd like to begin implementing special, single-day detours from normal Death Match ops. Things like Shotgun Saturday, Sniper Sunday, Team Death Match Tuesday, Low Gravity Day, and others. I think the ACE Mod (which is the mod running on DM1) has a lot of untapped potential that could stand some exploring. Could be fun! I'd love to hear your thoughts. (I said thoughts, not gripes! ) Some current changes on DM1 are: Addition of announcement messages at the beginning of the match to alert you to upcoming events and for other reminders. Elimination of dogs (maybe I'll bring them back, but even at eighty-percent strength, they were too viscous. I will play with this over time.) Player-based rotations (where the physical map size is determined by how many people are in the server when the map loads) have been turned off. This facilitates better ability to control maps through rcon and hlsw because these tools don't understand player-based rotations. Sometimes problematic to have many players on a small map, or too few players on a large one. But with the latter, players tend to seek out the action anyway, and with the former, if they are not up for an action packed slaughter map, well - it's only 20 minutes to the next map, or there's other servers in play, too.

anyone have update on how TITHEAD is doing?
djMot replied to fbi_open_up's topic in General Discussion
I spoke (in-game chat) with SPAWNicus (TIT-HEAD's brother) and he said he was released and has returned home. His release as about a week ago. Lots of therapy work now to regain his strength. I asked SPAWNicus to let TIT-HEAD know that we all miss him and continue to send him wishes for a swift healing process. I'm sure TIT-HEAD would enjoy getting some fan mail during his recovery. Because this is a general forum, I won't post his email address here, but you can request it from me by PM if you wish. . -
It's an awesome map MARKOFFXI !! Thanks - I'm sure it was quite an undertaking!

Why are they using my sig? lol

Love the song; always have, but - wow - most boring audience ever award goes to that one!

The drummer is like twelve, lol.

The audio finally syncs up about half way through, lol. Gotta love these old vireo to digital conversions!

Thanks Labob! It's now running on DM1 as the first map in the rotation. You can restart the server and get to it that way, if no one else is there, obviously, or else it is showing up in hlsw (and so rcon too I would imagine.) It is a BEAUTIFUL map! If you jump on the hood (bonnet?) of a jeep parked halfway into a carport in the NW area of the map, then try to jump up onto the roof, you're gonna get stuck there.

@@ChickswDicks - Mods are (typically) stored in C:\Users\<your windows user name here>\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods and in that folder, the latest DM2 AceMod folder will be found with the name xidmace1. I suggest running the game as an Administrator* while the new mod is being downloaded. This is not typically necessary, but in situations where something just isn't working out right, I always suggest running as an administrator to ensure the game has permission to write to protected areas of your user account. That often allows the update to succeed and the game will run fine. The issue with MW3 should be unrelated, but again, please try to run everything as an Administrator to avoid problems installing stuff to protected areas of your user account. * right click the C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe file and choose "run as Administrator"

Welcome Hefe! Strap on them tags, boy! You're an Idiot now!

@@Labob - Really Labob? Tell that to everyone who plays there. Yes, the files up on the game server are the same, BUT the instant anyone tries to go into that server, everything they had worked to build for themselves evaporates into a puff of greasy black smoke - classes, prestige, weapon unlocks, challenge completions... Everything. You can tell everyone that the server has not changed till the cows come home, but when they go in there and find they have to start all over, it sure as hell doesn't seem like nothing has changed! For those of you following this thread, I can offer one ray of sunshine - As @@7toes_ky and I found last evening, it is kind of interesting (fun even) seeing what it's like to start over and get a "Challenge Complete" for doing things that seem so basic and every-day to us seasoned COD5 Professionals. It's rather nostalgic being a noob again. And a recommendation - If you intend to Prestige-Up again (unlock additional class slots that you can build out) remember that with each Prestige level-up, you loose everything to gain that additional level slot. So maybe just work with one class until you've earned as much Prestige as you need, then go about finalizing your load-outs.

Sorry Panzergirl. Nothing I can do to fix it for you. We all have to start over on DM1. I am thinking about a Shotgun Get-A-Grip Day so we can all re-earn our grip. Lord knows we all need one! But I think that should wait till people have had a chance to Prestige-up as high as they want to get first since each new Prestige step resets all weapon unlocks.

I don't know you yet, but your reputation proceeds you. Let's just leave it at that. Welcome to Idiotville.

Yes, and I totally fell in love (all over again?) with the girl in the white dress!
