It appears to be true that the Breakfast Club has migrated over to DM2. Opinions vary as to why - some say it's because it works better, others say it's where the people are in the morning by the time they arrive. Chicken, or the egg.
An afternoon (US time) crowd is still quite strong on DM1, so it comes down to a matter of time of day.
I have some grand plans for DM1 moving forward, so stay tuned on that. I have some other stuff I need to work through, and the Knife Tourney is this weekend, so it won't be till next week before I begin work, but I hope it will be a fun rejuvenation for the original DM workhorse.
Beers is running point on DM2, but I can tell you there is an issue with maximum number of maps in a rotation on that server, and to some degree even the size of the map (in total MB) plays into the equation. It's generated a lot of work ensuring a set of maps rotates all the way through without crashing the server. Beers deserves a big round of applause for putting in long hours fine tuning DM2! I'm sure even he would tell you it's a work in progress, though.
