  1. I've been too buried in computer parts to notice you got tags. Welcome to the Clan!
  2. Get a Job. Welcome to the real world.
  3. To be honest @@2_MANY_BEERS, you would get my attention immediately (or soon enough anyway) by PM'ing me on this kind of stuff. Include whoever else you want in the conversation (johnny, labob, etc...) so that it gets to everyone with a need to know. But my thought on this is that this is a server admin team issue rather than one for a general forum open to members and non-members as well. I'm sorry I didn't get to this until you @tagged me in your last post - which is another good way of getting my attention, btw, since it shows up as a "notification." This week I'm dealing with two computer builds. Last week I was researching what parts needed to go into those systems. The week before that I was dealing with the total failure of my radio station's computer. The week before that I was trying to deal with my career counselor's insistence that Girls Rock Radio is what I must do because it completely suits my vocational desires and speaks to my core strengths. The week before that I was trying to figure out (again! ) what the hell I'm going to do to get some money flowing in my life - a spigot that's been largely cut off for about 10 years now. I could go on and on, but the long and short of it is, there's a tremendous amount of noise in my life. There are ways to get my attention, and I do want to be involved, but you have to cut through all the noise first.
  4. Sorry about your mom, WhiteBoy. I realize you want to do everything you can for her, but remember also to take care of yourself, too. You need your strength and peace to be the best you can for her.
  5. You GO Girl !! Fucking Awesome! Not much of a fan of most other sports, but give me a good football game to watch, and I'm all in. Nothing ROCKS like a football game. Go Pack, GO
  6. @Ruggerxi - Everyone, and I mean everyone, thought the DM Server was running exceptionally well this morning. And the server was pretty much full for a couple of maps, so load didn't seem to be a factor detracting from gameplay at all.
  7. @@Ruggerxi - I was in playing several maps last evening and it was playing very well. That's my experience, others' mileage may vary. I'll see what the consensus is this morning in the Breakfast Club. On my way in there now...
  8. @@TheLastColdBeer - the test is over. It's been deemed a fail. For now anyway. Resume play on the Dallas server - the one listed on the home page.
  9. Although you've been here since 2010, great to see you posting. There are a lot of fun discussions going on, so jump on in.
  10. No, I wouldn't say that. Rather, we learned of one place where we don't want to build our own dedicated servers. Maybe we'll stumble again on another attempt, or maybe we'll fly. We won't know until we try. Oh God, who gave me the poet pill this morning? And what the hell is a bumpkiss anyway?
  11. Sorry for not posting about this earlier. After the Breakfast Club, JohnnyDos and I worked on preparing the new COD5 rotations for tomorrow along with some other support stuff. After that I got off and had some lunch, and idk why - probably because I took an allergy med last night - but I totally crashed on the couch and didn't wake up till my doorbell rang at 2pm. I hate allergy meds! Anywhoo.... @@Olive - the server beginning with "50." is the Dallas DM Server. The other is the clone of that server which is in NY. The NY server, because of some complaints from another game that was also being tested there, along with a couple complaints from COD5, has precipitated the decision to discontinue further testing there and withdrawing from any longer term arrangement. In other words, "It's dead Jim." Everyone continue to play on the Dallas-based DM Server. The full IP address is 50.97.113.67:28960, and it's the same one listed on the front page of the XI website.
  12. Totally agree with you, , and sorry if I've been seeming like a bit of a ping-nazi lately. Way back when, I did note that ping isn't the whole story and, even when my HLSW ping graph looked like a piano keyboard, it didn't seem to have an impact on how the game was playing for me. Best indication is how the game is playing, and crashing between maps aside, the NY server is playing very smooth and there are near-zero complaints about its performance so far.
  13. Admittedly, I forgot this was running, so it's collected an average, high, and low over more than 8 hours now...
  14. Awesome - looks like it will kick some ASS!
  15. I suppose people sometimes wonder why I am so passionate about Girls Rock Radio (the Internet radio station I own, if you didn't already know.) There are so many reasons. Reasons that go well beyond its pure entertainment value. Sit me down for a chat and I will not shut up about it! But in the midst of all my lofty goals for the station and the "platform" I simply know it MUST become, out of the clear blue will arrive a message from somewhere that leads me to a song like this one. And suddenly it comes full circle and I fall in love with the music all over again. This band made me fall in love again.
  16. @@Labob - I don't have passwords to the NY Server yet, so I cannot mess with that stuff. I did inform @@Sitting-Duc though. For those of you experiencing lag or ping issues, please post a PingPlotter screenshot in this thread (but don't use PingPlotter's built-in copy graph to clipboard method I mentioned in another post; turns out that doesn't work in a post here) or post a screenshot of tracert to 74.208.223.131. Remember that, for a tracert, you might get good numbers. PingPlotter gathers hi/low/avg numbers over however long you run it and can better detect intermittent degradation in your connection. Of course, you may already be degraded. God knows I have been for decades.
  17. Turns out I was wrong about pasting an image into a post from the clipboard, so I struck that out in the quoted post above. The image shows up when you're writing the post, and even if you "preview" the post, but when actually posted, it's not there. Use LightShot instead and upload the screenshot you take with it. Awesome utility. http://app.prntscr.com/

Yeah - not the card I thought it was...
  19. The Senior Admin Team along with the COD5 Server Admin Team are pleased to announce the relocation of the DM Server to new hosting in New York! Take a bite of that apple, whydon'tcha? As this will be our own dedicated server, we have high hopes that difficulties experienced in the past, and especially the current lag/micro-CI issues on the Dallas version of the DM Server, will all become a thing of the past. That's not to say there won't be bumps along the way, but fingers crossed for a smooth transition, right? The new server is an identical clone of the current DM Server, so gameplay should be just as you've always enjoyed. A shout-out to SoftLayer (Dallas) for hosting us for however briefly, and best wishes they get their peering network issues resolved. The new server IP is: 74.208.223.131:28960 You can open the console in-game (tap the ~ key to open the console) and enter: "/connect 74.208.223.131:28960" without the quotes. In HLSW, just enter the IP address in the address bar - like so: HLSW will automatically grab the name from the server, so you don't need to enter that part. It will also drop the new server into your custom server list where you can right-click/connect as usual. The links on the home page of our website will be updated as things are finalized. Apparently, this is not the only server on the move... Stay tuned.

What's the power supply wattage? Hopefully they didn't cut a corner there. That's a pretty decent spec right there, though - although a stronger video card would be good. 620 is no POS, though, so you should be gaming in style.
  21. @@Labob - huh? How am I involved in this post?
  22. Could be. Looks like your ISP is discarding ping request packets. Does tracert work, or just immediately time out also? It really looks like you're not even getting out of your router. Do you have a firewall turned on in the router?
  23. LOL - try paying your internet bill once in a while.
  24. For those of you who can and would like to help, what Rugger is suggesting is to: Click the Windows Start Orb (or whatever you call it, or however you get to your Windows Start Menu) enter CMD to launch a DOS prompt enter "TRACERT 50.97.113.67" (without quotes of course) Once you get to where the command starts timing out (or finishes, but mine always times out,) grab a screenshot (http://app.prntscr.com/ - a very cool utility to make screenshots a breeze.) post your picture here. Simpler than a Screenshot: You can also click the little DOS Prompt icon in the upper left on the title bar of the DOS prompt window to open the control menu, then click Edit/Select All, and then go back into that menu again and this time select Edit/Copy. Finally, paste the stuff you just copied into a post here. For the more adventurous: Get PingPlotter (I posted the link in the first screenshot I posted from it above; it installs clean without any crapware riding along in the installer.) Enter the IP address in the "Address to Trace" text box, then set all the settings above to big Trace/Stop button to look like mine. Start it (i.e., Click "Trace") and go play a couple of maps. After a map or two, from the PingPlotter Edit menu, click Copy as Image Paste into a post here (literally hit Ctrl+V or Right-click/Paste) and the image will show up in your post. Advantage to using PingPlotter: If you ARE affected, PingPlotter will better capture the "worst case" scenario. If you just run a tracert, you might get a decent report even if you've been affected by the lag/CI issue. Why? Look at a PingPlotter graph and notice that, for the nodes along the route that are showing a long hi/low ping bar, their AVG ping is still good, but the MAX ping is probably spiking up when there's a lag/CI episode in progress. But since the lag/CIs come and go, even during any given map, you could easily capture a tracert (which only runs once, not continuously like PingPlotter) that captures an "AVG" ping rather than a MAX ping. PingPlotter is way better at detecting intermittent lag/CI issues than a straight tracert since it keeps repeating the test and building the statistics over time. If you have never had an issue with lag and CIs, please do this anyway because we need route information showing that some routes are clean while others are dirty. Thanks everyone.
  25. This noontime on the DM Server, there was a lot of lag and micro-CIs. I captured some video, and a PingPlotter graph. I'm hoping, @@Ruggerxi, that you might open a conversation with SoftLayer regarding the congestion we are seeing at nodes immediately adjacent to their servers. This may be occurring outside of their jurisdiction, but it's close enough that they should have a rapport with networklayer. Not everyone was seeing the lag and micro-CIs, but a good number of us were undeniably affected. Again, I think it just depends on what peering network you are routed to SoftLayer on whether you'll have any issues or not. Given the sometimes crappy encoding xfire does to video, I'm not sure the lag will be all that evident, but I could definitely see it on the raw avi video. Note several comments on lag in the vid. http://www.xfire.com/videos/623ac8
