  1. Used the lathe at work, I don't have 3 phase here. It's a WEN, chinese thing. We had an Atlas bench lathe, but Mormon got dibs on it & took it home. We have a Bridgeport clone, made in Japan, that is an excellent mill, & I love using it.
  2. You don't want ALL of us Yankees & snowbirds invading Florida. Wheel studs were longer than the factory installed on the hubs. Had to get the tires out further so the chains would clear. I could throw snow, but on my hills I had to back up on ice, otherwise I wasn't going anywhere. Need to rearrange my garage so I can get the tractor out, it never failed to climb, ice or not.
  3. Snow & frigid temps rest of the week. Finally got around to installing new Dorman wheel studs & spacers on my Walker mower. Had to chuck them in the lathe & cut .020 off the shoulders, but they fit fine. Snowblower mounted & tire chains that clear the frame, wish I didn't need them.
  4. What rhymes with Rob. How about Knob? Good to hear from you Rob, it was getting a shade predictable around here.
  5. You'll wonder how you did without it. I use RO for drinking, coffee, & cooking. Our water is hard as a rock, and destroys water softeners & valves. So nice to have a coffee maker last for years, not months. Not to mention putting clear ice cubes in your glass.
  6. RIP Gina Lollobrigida! You were a favorite actress, and I'll have to watch Solomon & Sheba again. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-11640231/Italian-bombshell-Gina-Lollobrigida-died-aged-95.html
  7. Goodbye Robbie, you guys gave me a couple cruising songs that'll be on my playlist forever. https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/robbie-bachman-drummer-bachman-turner-overdrive-dead-69
  8. You aren't kidding, we started talking about the guys we knew that turned 50, but never made the next birthday that ends with zero. RIP Tommy Mack, Doug Connerton, Chuck Albert, Brian Grey, Jeff Considine, Jay Kinkin, Marty Klein, Kevin Guerrini, the list kept going until we had to stop... As for me, I'm well blessed & have hit open waters. Looking forward to the coming years, and gaming with all you fine COD'ers. Now, if Dirk would only quit bashing me when my back is turned.
  9. Probably a map, wait until the rotation changes & see if you can join.
  10. Finding another girl isn't a problem. Another wife? That probably isn't going to happen. I'm leaning toward the one & done club, but still keeping the door open.
  11. Crossed a milestone today. Wish it were a happier one, but it's still worth noting. Turned 60 years old, and six years after the death of my wife, Lori. Little disconcerted from reading the statistics and talking with widowers, but most men in their 50s who lose their wives don't make it to 60. Neglect, depression, drugs & alcohol are the leading factors, but I think lack of direction and purpose play a big part. This life is a gift. Live it with a sense of wonder, because you'll never expect the marvels that unfold, and it's the only one you're given. Enjoy the great things, learn from the downturns, but never forget, you may not have been dealt the greatest hand, but you were granted a seat at the table, and the cards were yours to play.
  12. Ain't nuthing' like the Gulf side. Got a couple buckets of shells to sort out.
  13. The American news....... The American People.....
  14. Happy 2023 Ghost! Get the disks, it will improve your aim.
  15. Oh, not the peanut butter cookies. That's sacrilege.
  16. Gonna have to watch Kelly's Heroes again. RIP Stuart, ty for all the smiles. https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2022/12/13/stuart-margolin-emmy-winning-actor-angel-on-rockford-files-dies-at-82/
  17. Nuclear fission produces electromagnetic waves too, just not the sort that are practical to harness. Fusion produces the one product we are familiar with, heat. Heat is fierce, violent, and carries great risk to utilize, but we've had centuries of experience with it. I'm comfortable with a new heat source, sure beats kitten kisses, warlock wands, & angel dreams for actual power production.
  18. Been rainy & bleak here, last weekend was a wash for doing anything outside. Great for making spaghetti & playing COD, but I need to get a few chores out of the way. Set aside several pairs of work pants that are fraying & need repair. Set the old Singer on my kitchen island, threaded a few bobbins, and practiced running patterns. Been years since I sewed my last kite, so I needed the refresher. I forgot how relaxing it was running a sewing machine. Makes work fun.
  19. Yeah! All our problems solved, a new way to create heat...to boil water....to make steam...to turn turbines & dynamos developed in the 1800's....nope, too low tech. We gotta press on with our vision of making electricity from pixie glitter.
  20. One gallon is 128 ounces. X5 from my secondary fermenter =640 ounces, or 53.3333 12ounce bottles, or 40 16ounce bottles. Depending on my hydrometer/before/after fermentation & percentage of alcohol, how many 2lb logs do I have to burn in the fireplace to finish a sixer of home brew, & how many times will I piss in the yard?
  21. This video is too sweet. I luv it when a federal agent thinks he's above the law.
  22. lol, Grandpa used to say "Don't sprinkle sugar on shit & call it pudding, I'm not eating it." How right he was.
  23. Life, it gives you the test first, and the lessons afterward.
  24. After clearing the sinks of dishes, I tried this experiment. Cleaned & cut up three pumpkins, baked them on a cookie sheet, then filleted the skins off. Smelled like I was cooking Acorn squash. Mashed it all in a bowl, vanilla extract, brown sugar, salt, two eggs & a half cup of milk, and into a rolled out pie shell. I'll be dipped....pumpkin pie from scratch.
