  1. Crossed a milestone today. Wish it were a happier one, but it's still worth noting. Turned 60 years old, and six years after the death of my wife, Lori. Little disconcerted from reading the statistics and talking with widowers, but most men in their 50s who lose their wives don't make it to 60. Neglect, depression, drugs & alcohol are the leading factors, but I think lack of direction and purpose play a big part. This life is a gift. Live it with a sense of wonder, because you'll never expect the marvels that unfold, and it's the only one you're given. Enjoy the great things, learn from the downturns, but never forget, you may not have been dealt the greatest hand, but you were granted a seat at the table, and the cards were yours to play.
  2. Ain't nuthing' like the Gulf side. Got a couple buckets of shells to sort out.
  3. The American news....... The American People.....
  4. Happy 2023 Ghost! Get the disks, it will improve your aim.
  5. Oh, not the peanut butter cookies. That's sacrilege.
  6. Gonna have to watch Kelly's Heroes again. RIP Stuart, ty for all the smiles. https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2022/12/13/stuart-margolin-emmy-winning-actor-angel-on-rockford-files-dies-at-82/
  7. Nuclear fission produces electromagnetic waves too, just not the sort that are practical to harness. Fusion produces the one product we are familiar with, heat. Heat is fierce, violent, and carries great risk to utilize, but we've had centuries of experience with it. I'm comfortable with a new heat source, sure beats kitten kisses, warlock wands, & angel dreams for actual power production.
  8. Been rainy & bleak here, last weekend was a wash for doing anything outside. Great for making spaghetti & playing COD, but I need to get a few chores out of the way. Set aside several pairs of work pants that are fraying & need repair. Set the old Singer on my kitchen island, threaded a few bobbins, and practiced running patterns. Been years since I sewed my last kite, so I needed the refresher. I forgot how relaxing it was running a sewing machine. Makes work fun.
  9. Yeah! All our problems solved, a new way to create heat...to boil water....to make steam...to turn turbines & dynamos developed in the 1800's....nope, too low tech. We gotta press on with our vision of making electricity from pixie glitter.
  10. One gallon is 128 ounces. X5 from my secondary fermenter =640 ounces, or 53.3333 12ounce bottles, or 40 16ounce bottles. Depending on my hydrometer/before/after fermentation & percentage of alcohol, how many 2lb logs do I have to burn in the fireplace to finish a sixer of home brew, & how many times will I piss in the yard?
  11. This video is too sweet. I luv it when a federal agent thinks he's above the law.
  12. lol, Grandpa used to say "Don't sprinkle sugar on shit & call it pudding, I'm not eating it." How right he was.
  13. Life, it gives you the test first, and the lessons afterward.
  14. After clearing the sinks of dishes, I tried this experiment. Cleaned & cut up three pumpkins, baked them on a cookie sheet, then filleted the skins off. Smelled like I was cooking Acorn squash. Mashed it all in a bowl, vanilla extract, brown sugar, salt, two eggs & a half cup of milk, and into a rolled out pie shell. I'll be dipped....pumpkin pie from scratch.
  15. I did have a sixer, but my bed was more comfy. Still have half the property to go & another pit to fill.
  16. I just did 2lbs of meatloaf, a big dish of green bean casserole, & a few pounds of mashed taters. Was gonna roll out a pie, but my mess meter got pegged.
  17. I'm beat. Even leftovers can't prop me up. Time for a Blue Moon.
  18. Installed 2tb drive as second, moved all my movies over to it, & have plenty of room on my 1tb primary. I'm good to go for now.
  19. Sipping a Stone IPA, too cold outside to light a fire. Bourbon sounds good, but I need to wake up 2morrow.
  20. Morning wake up in Bureau County.
  21. Good Morning Illinois.
  22. As always Hatchet, great pleasure killing you on DM3.
  23. Browsing ads led me to this gem. Left work just before noon for a quick ride to Rockford & return before dark. 40hp Mariner has great compression, shifts, & hopefully has spark. Hull is straight as an arrow, with no rash, or dents. Floor is a little weak, and the trailer needs wire wheeling & paint, but nothing I haven't done before. Tin boats are like catnip, can't leave them alone.
  24. Snowed like it meant it Saturday night. Patio was covered, but it all was melted by noon. Can't have this, still have leaves to rake.
  25. New days are dawning for the twitter tribe. Now they know how it feels to work for a real boss who plays for keeps. No sympathy for imbeciles that dis their new lord on his own platform.
