  9. @wildthingI come from a family of nurses. Oddly enough many of the girlies I grew up with bacame nurses as well. One in particular was that type of person that could barely read or write in high school! now she is a nurse! She found a way to overcome those deficincies and believe me she had to do some work, but she did it! As you probably know, colleges have many tools available for those who are a bit weak in their English/writing skills. These include writing labs and tutors who help students with their papers. The help is there and these people want one to succeed. The biggest obstacle is self motivation. A common trait all professionals must have to succeed. Keep gently supporting her and perhaps research and then show her the help available to her once she takes the plunge. Perhaps she can start slow by taking just the proverbial English 101/102 classes by themselves. This way she can focus on strengthing those skills and have plenty of time to seek help when needed thus building her confidence! Good luck to her. I know nursing is an incredibily rewarding carrer. It is something I have witnessed my whole life. It is worth the effort! BTW congrats on your soon to be MBA as well!

  15. I used to commute to/from work with a friend in his car. He had a can of mace under his seat. He slid his seat back and I heard a "shhhh" sound. I looked at him and said "fuck". He slid his back just enough to send out about a 1/2 second burst! Wecouldn't even make it out of the parking lot, had to get out - coughing and gagging. We had a 50 mile drive ahead of us. Took us hours to get home. We rolled the windows down, stuck our heads out of the windows and we still couldn't take it! We left his car in the drive with the windows down for three or four days before we could stand to drive in it again

  19. Another thing I have noticed is this; You will usually see something around 750 as the cutooff to get a good rate on a loan. As long as you have at least that you are good. If you have an 800 it doesnt matter, the same rate applies. The only times I have seen 800+ score really matter are special lines of credit with specific companies. For example Chase was running a deal a while back. You had to be a customer, had be with them for X amount of time, credit score I think was 840+, and some other qualifiers such as annual pay (it was high!). If you met their qualifiers you could geet a home lone under 2%. I have a friend who did it. This was during Covid. My point is this, for most of us "little" people we just wont see that kind of thing. If you can get and keep your credit score above 750 you are doing damn good and will get the best rates offered at the time. Don't sweat it if you can't break 800 or get past 800. If you want to do it, for what ever reason then thst is great. It means you are responsibile with your money and kudos to you!
  20. Debt is part of the equation. If you carry very little to no debt, your credit score will actually decrease. If you want to icrease your score, carry a bit on your credit cards. Vary the amount to see when it actually increases. Just don't be late with those payments - thats part of your score too. I noticed when I no longer had a mortgage my score took a pretty big hit. When I got another mortgage it went back up. Stupid I know, but there you are.
