  1. OMG I love Herb Alpert !!! I grew up with this music !!!!! The Whipped Cream album caused quite the stir with conservatives back then.
  2. What size HD you need. I have a few older ones. Probably 160gigs. Also if its an older system, the battery may be an issue. PM me if interested in one of the small drives. I never throw components away, so I have alot of older stuff.
  3. Keep getting a sever error usermap/mp_82ab_erdol . Was playing with a few others and it screwed up when changing to next map.
  4. Watchit !!! Im a huge Bengals fan !!! Browns Suck !!!! (oh shit, they do !!) 0-5

Yes, if you currently run 7 I would stick with it. But XP and Vista users would benefit. Unless your in the music industry (Studio, Self Recording Musician), then I wouldnt even attemp it. Many VST Plugins and other compiled plugins will not work in 8. Let alone the inteface drivers. Audio drivers for professional gear is just now becoming stable for 7. Many studio still use XP because of lack of support from certain vendors. But at $14.99 to upgrade from 7 to 8, well, its tempting. Like I said easy fixes for users who like the "Start Menu". Hell some may love the new "Metro" interface. Now the $40 upgrade for Vista and XP users is a no brainer.

Finally got the Audio Visualizers to work. Had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the programs. Work fine. The "ClassicShell" program which install a "Start" feature in 8 works great. You can choose an XP, Vista or 7 version of the "Start" menu. And its completely customizable (add features or remove them). So now all is good and everything works, even my old programs form the Win98 days. To me if you are still running XP or Vista, its a no-brainer, go ahead and upgrade. Especially with the great upgrade price MS will be offering. Windows 7 users, I would wait. The lack of a "Start" menu is easily fixed and the "Metro" bullshit screen can be bypassed with the "Start" menu fixes that are available. Several companies offer or will offer programs to give you the "Start" menu. But the "regedit" fix of the beta versions is not available in the consumer release. Microsoft deleted the code all together. Of the 3 fixes (programs) I looked at, 2 you pay for, I liked the open source "ClassicShell" best, plus its free and there are different skins available. So for now if you have 7, hold off. If you have XP or Vista, go for it.

All ready tried that. Doesnt work with the 8 Professional final release, only with the beta or RTM version. Would be nice if it did.

    Windows 8

One thing I do miss is the "Start" menu which is gone in 8. But there is several solutions. After researching them, Im going to install "ClassicShell" (freeware from great source), which adds the "Start" button and menus back in to 8. Plus you can bypass "Metro" all together. Now to try and tackle my "Audio Visualizers" that fail to work. Still trying options with no luck. Going to email the manufacturers and see if a fix will be issued. But all in all, it loads very quick, is stable, and runs all but the mentioned apps I use on my media pc.

    Windows 8

Installation went smooth. The whole "Metro" startup page is gimicky, but the old desktop is just a click away. All my software works fine except for some audio visualizers. And thats a big deal for me. I love my audio visualizers. Tried running in different modes but they dont want to work. Will do some searching on the manufacturers web site. But all in all not a bad experience. Will play with the user interface more tomorrow.

Me too I still have all the original disk for EVERY operating system since Dos 6.0. Even have Win95 or Win98 on floppy. I am bad about saving disks too. Still have Apple II and PC software on 5 1/4 floppy disks.

    Windows 8

Well the sad thing is in a few months all new pc's will be running 8. Windows 7 is pretty damn stable and 8 is built on 7's core. Its the damn desktop or "Metro" as they call it, thats pissin people off. But for those running XP or Vista the cheap upgrade MS is offering to those users might be a good deal. Especially once new programs and hardware stops supporting XP. So at some point many will go to 8. I remember moving from DOS 6.2 to Windows and hated it.
  12. Just received the final release from Microsoft. Gonna install it on my media pc and give it a try. I dont think Im gonna like "Metro" (main desktop). Will keep everyone informed. Official release date is later this month, but Im a registered OEM with them, so I get stuff before it hits the store. Hate to see anyone waiste there money on it. So if its shit, I'll let you know.
  13. Were you at "The Green" ? My daughters drag me there any chance they can. About 35 minute drive for us.
  14. Damn,, I missed out !!! Count me in next time...
  15. I use it in COD WAW DM server almost all the time. Love it.
  16. Les Paul and Mary Ford, later tonight I will put on some Sabbath and play some COD. I listen to about anything, except, new country and rap. The country music has to be pre 1978. Stuff like Charlie Pride and Marty Robbins
  17. I tried to help Wero the other night by phone. Thought the map file in question was hidden in the "Compatibility Files" subgroup. He told me that he went to Area 51 and thats when shit started on his pc. Sad
  18. Hopefully he reads this page and gets it going.
  19. His "compatibility view" button wasnt there. I looked to see if it was a view option and didnt see it. Weird.
  20. Sorry I couldnt help you with your pc problem. Windows 7 on store pought pc's have certain features disabled and I still cant figure out how to enable "compatability files" view. Plus my state of mind didnt help much. I tend to ramble on and on Hope you get it going.
  21. That would make a great statement on a Tombstone. Hmm ... is there laws governing what can be engraved on a head stone ???? Google here I come !!!!!
  22. Mott the Hoople, Deep Purple, The Tubes, Nazareth, The Sweet, Sabbath, and Zep are on rotation today.
  23. Notice the playing cards under the turntable legs. They work great for leveling. Look like crap, but they do the job. The Stanton Turntable at the bottom I use for 78 rpm records. The others are a Technics (cant remember the model) and a Pioneer PL518.
  24. Here are the rest. And my record collection
