I think the auto balance is a great idea, and yes they do stack teams osf that is, I see you have some great ideas Arcanage, I am glad you are a CW Admin now. Refinery was a fun map, What is CTF?

CTF= capture the flag...except it is really just a modified PS where you capture a "proto" area that serves as the flag to win the round. 

 

I love PS maps like Refinery...but lets face it mesa is only good for a 32 slot server and we don't have that.  Heck we had a full mixed when we had 32 slots and used TIA maps alot...then server crashes got bad and players dwindled.

 

I have changed around a few things in the mixed to see how it goes over the next few days. 

Rotation at the moment:

Hang_em (took out the hardcore mod and put back the normal weapons)                         TIA

poolday_v2                                                                                                                  IA

swzbox (wizid suggested we put this vehicle map in to try out and to get some variety)      IA

arabic_city                                                                                                                   TIA

aimmap_v2 (chaos in a box :D)                                                                                     IA

Coast_CTF (will leave in for the moment but most people ask to move to next map)           PS (CTF mod)

force1 (good map I vote it stays)                                                                                   TIA

Olympus (not a bad map but the spawning can be unbalanced and irritating)                      TIA

 

I can add stadium if ya'll want it...but I don't want to :)

 

We seem to be able to hold a few players with the smaller maps (mostly pros), but we can't seem to get enough to make a larger map fun so people leave when they come around in the rotation.  The pros come in and run off the average player in the small maps, and then they leave when the large map comes up...so it is hard to get a good "Mix" with the current lack of player count in wars.  Not sure what else we can do except put up the maps that YOU guys want to play and hope that we get some people in the server when we want to have some fun. 

 

So keep up the recomendations...and I need specific maps here people.  I'm getting old and can't remember any of the old maps we used to run except for Sphere wars...which we can't get enough people in to play at the moment, so throw some names out there and we'll give them a try for a week at a time.

I really liked RedvsBlue that we had long time ago; forget what it was called really ... but the one with sniper rifles. That was fun.

What about st33l's reflections? That could be showcased again. (maybe get rid of clays though)

 

Good choices so far Cygon! I would ditch Olympus. It's been on long enough, and I agree that the spawn points are ridiculous.

Ok I've dropped Coast_CTF and swzbox...people just kept leaving when they loaded up.  I also dropped Olympus because it was getting a bit old.

 

I am adding harbor revisited back into the cycle...it takes forever with my upload speed, so that will probably be it for tonight.

 

I am working on another close combat map called Contain that I will add soon to see how it plays.  I can put it on the hardcore too if desired, because it will be something between cellar and some of these other aimmaps.

Day before yesterday I went to Crymod and clicked on Crysis Wars in download section and used search on "aim" and (re)downloaded all the maps of that name. Nice thing though to mention is that all have them had a CRY and one had BAK's in them. So maybe we can just upload them and not making them active by levelrotation.

 

I dearly hope we have that playercount/map feature, but time after time.

Other thing is that I emailed Cry-Tom and he will answer my question soon as he was in the UK.

Have you seen eq shox's desert aim map? A possibility.

Alright, I just played the new rotation.

Good news: big increase in players. Kept 4-8 players, and they started coming within minutes of first populating the servers.

That means if you're looking for a game, just enter the server with a friend and the players will come on their own. I see many are enjoying the new aimmaps, and poolday is always a favorite.

I may have recommended harbour too soon, however. It felt too big even with 6-7 players, although it's a great map.

 

Bad news: team balancing is needed desperately, as we attract more and more skilled players.

These players will just stack teams on purpose, and leave them unbalanced. They take away from the enjoyment of other, perhaps newer, players. If you play with OSF/AxG, they are a prime example.

 

What we need:

1. The ability to move players, individually, to other teams.

2. The ability to lock teams in place. (no switching allowed)

3. it would be nice, but not necessary, to have the ability to switch to specific maps rather than !nextmap multiple times. For example, if everyone requests poolday, but it's 3 maps later.

 

I am happy with the increase in players however; everyone can help out by planting a "seed" to attract more players, since they won't normally come to a totally empty server.

It helps to have someone in server even if you are not playing at the moment.  When I'm off of work I'll spectate even while I'm working in the yard or on stuff in the house just to keep the server showing up on the favorites.  Helps a little.

Also, I would strongly recommend changing/removing Most Wanted.

It's a nuisance for a 10 kill-spree. I normally find myself giving "free-kills" at 9 because it's not worth letting the other team score the inevitable extra points by killing me.

We should either:

1) Raise Most Wanted to 12 kills; this will stop campers/unfair players without being annoying.

2) Reduce the reward; maybe 3 kills extra, since a nuclear sign on your head is already advantage enough, in my opinion.

The biggest reason I think Most Wanted is ineffective is because the second-strongest player nearly ALWAYS ends up killing the most wanted. The second-strongest player most definitely does NOT need extra points, and such a big reward makes it unfair for the top player. I like the principle of giving incentive and bonuses to newer, maybe less proficient players, but in this case they will never get the most wanted kill: regardless of nuke sign or size of reward. Most Wanted only gives points to the already-skilled players and punishes the player on a spree. However, it does ward off camping, and help find players hiding in uncommon areas, so I would not eliminate it but simply change it.

Aztec won't work with patriot buddy. The map is missing a spectators point, which is needed for Patriot. Geo (map maker) isn't willing to share the map or that he will change that. But, look at the map Dust video a few pages back and hopefully that one is working.

morter atacks in poolday dont like that, kinda domb. hardor revisted way to big, could see when we get more people it would be fun. aribic like it a lot, although  Arcarage keep punching me to death lol. I can see morter attacks in PS's, battleground big maps like that but aim maps, hangem good one,thats all i played today. My 4 cents

Yes a nice little coding that skips a map if the player count is less than say...10 would be a great feature.  I'll remove harbor until further notice.  Adding in Dust as a replacement.
