This will Do everything Microsofts office will do with only one difference , this program is compatible with ALL

microsoft file types and is complete , with Microsoft you have to PURCHASE each suite , and with this its

just a plugin And there are thousands of plugins http://www.openoffice.org/ , if you have any further

I use open office as well. I haven't had a MS Office product since Office 2000, and haven't missed them either. Openoffice is free, open sourced, and works great.

in open office you need to go into the settings and change it's default file type from .ODT to .DOC and anything else that gives you the option to change it to Microsoft file type of sorts. If you need help, hollar and I can walk you through changing them. I use both programs, and they will communicate fine with each other as long as you save it to the right file type.

Open Office has been superceded by Libre Office: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/ Open Office is essentially mortally wounded. The developers and major backers have migrated to the Libre Office fork. A new version was recently released that fixed a huge # of bugs, added more features, and greatly increased the interoperability with Microsoft Office. Most Linux distros include LO now, and is the recommended version for Windows etc.
