Take a look --see what you think .

Looks a nice little set up there scooby....the difference in price for the chips is that the fx8150 is 3.6Ghz instead of 3.1Ghz for the fx8120 so would probably go with the cheaper and maybe overclock it up a little..i dont think the difference in performance would be that noticable. As for the Ram ,is there any need for 32 Gb just for gaming, maybe if your doing lots of high end graphics work or video encoding....and most games wont utilise that amount of ram so i would say 8 Gb is more than enough....Another thing to note is with these new graphics cards being Pcie 3.0 is that you cant get a AMD supported Mobo with Pcie 3.0 at the moment but i suppose its only a matter of time before AMD get with the program...Intel boards are supporting Pcie 3.0 at the moment...But anyway the 7870 looks a damn nice card for the price and is high up on the gpu benchmark scores,im a nvidia guy and decided on a gtx 570 1.25Gb card when i did my build 12 months ago,and it runs BF3 on a mix of high/ultra at around 80-140 fps but the amd 7870 is a 2Gb card so should breeze through anything you throw at it....

Dont know much about the SSD's have'nt got round to installing one but ive been looking at those OCZ agility 3,thats next on my to do list....But yeah man all looks good...You'll be kicking our asses on bf3 with set up Scooby dooby doo :w00t:

i seen some reviews of the all in 1 water coolers and the only 1 that could match some of the top end air coolers was the h100. i saw 1 review of the 1 your looking at and it performed as well as mid range air coolers (not great if your gonna be o'c your cpu. the fx chips use a lot of power when o'c (watts- heat). also the cooler produced a lot of niose (54 db) on max fans.

if you do go with the Antec H2O 920 you need to check it doesn't get in the way of your top fan (1 fitted . room for 2). the cooler will be sucking air from the outside and blowing warm air into your case. your gonna need some good exhausting through your top fans. ( make sure you check for yourself !!!!!!!!!)

better alternative - Noctua NH-D14 (air) 1 of the best air coolers (and quiet) and $10 cheaper on new egg ooooOOOoooooo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018

or corsair h100 about same price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181017&Tpk=h100

NOTE: Noctua NH-D14 will not fit in your current choice of case (with its side fan fitted), not sure about the h100. i do know that both will fit in the HAF 922 case along with 2 side fans fitted. a great alternative ( i got 1 and tsw above) its a monster :w00t: . and same price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197

don't know much about amd motherboards but did notice your motherboard and ram are not compatable. the MB your looking at supports dual channel ram not quad channel.

(made this bigger so you dint miss it)

You need to get a diff MB that supports quad channel or just get dual channel RAM

Also check that all your other componants are compatable with each other (MB-gpu-ram-psu)

aside from that, i don't think your gonna need 32g of ram for games for years. 8 gig is plenty .

I got 16gb DDR3 1600 dual channel (wanted 8gig only ended up with 16 cos i was too impatient to wait 2 weeks for 8gb i had allready ordered from another shop) ram on my pc and the most bf3 used was 4.5 gb (on ultra settings)

2 sticks of 4gb ddr3 1600 (dual channel) should do it. you can allways add another 8 gb later.

GOOD, the money you save on your RAM could go to a better quality power supply unit. i dint like some of the feedback (on newegg) of the psu your looking at. I need a good psu but not looked into it yet but take a look at some seasonic, corsair, XFX or other good 1's. reviews, reviews and some more reviews

Graphics card - awesome The most important componant in terms of games and graphics. just check out some reviews of the card on forums or youtube has lots of reviews (professional ones)

Ops W7 on newegg WOW. you mean people actually pay for windows. oops did i say that out loud lolol

i just recently built a new system so i know how much of a pain it can be trying to decide. good for you that its still fresh in my head.

Hope this helps.

After talking with several of our members ,made a few changes --

1.) case http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119197

2.) mobo http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131735

3.) Power Supply http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817207019

4.) Cpu Fan http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835608018

Board can support higher speed memory --is it worth the expense ?

With discounts /promo codes build will be in the $1400 range

As always our members input is appreciated , ty for the help and the sound advice !

here's a list of all the ram that will fit and not fit under the noctua d14 cooler. (scroll down till you see the ddr3 list)

http://www.noctua.at...ts_id=34&lng=en

if your still not sure you can allways go with the corsair vengeance low profile ram

low voltage 1.35v 1600 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233199

a bit faster 1866 1.5v http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233240

16gb 1600 1.5v http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233198

plenty other options on there. main things - dual channel, rated at 1.5v or less and speed of 1600 or above

i like the look of these mushkin 1600 cas 8 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820226295

(mushkin, very solid/stable ram)

don't know if higher speed mem is worth the expense. generally the higher the speed the higher the timings , so what you gain on 1 hand you lose on the other (as i understand it at the moment).

just 2 more things you need to check then your ready to go.

i noticed on the mother board spec sheet that it has only sata3 (6gb/s) ports and no sata 2 ports so you may not be able to plug some older sata 2 hard drives in there BUT i'm GUESSING you can actually put sata 2 (3gb/s) hard drives and plug them into the sata 3 ports and it will work just fine. just at the older sata 2 speeds (3 gb/s) YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS FOR YOURSELF!!!!. thats if it could be an issue. if your putting all new hd in there then just make sure there all sata 3 ( 6gb/s)

some people have been having problems getting the 8 core chips to work with the crosshair V MB for the simple reason that the MB needs a bios update (bios 0813) for the 8 core chips to work. you can dl the bios update from the asus website and update the bios using a function in the bios and a usb memory stick. (flash drive)

http://www.asus.com/...rmula/#download ( download the latest bios )

here's a thread of a guy who had this problem and what he had to do to solve it.

scroll down to where it says howdy all

http://www.tomshardw...underbolt-build

might be a good idea to contact newegg and ask them what bios revision the MB is pre-loaded with. it may have the latest bios installed allready. CHECK!!

hope this helps.

7.) SSD . http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820227726

i have the 120 Gb OCZ SSD drive. do not buy it... i have errors everytime i restart my computer it has crashed 3-4 times. for the speed its not worth it in my oppinion. i would rather raid two raptors. and i went from a 640gb seagate barracuda drive to that and i didnt notice any speed difference. only on the windows experience index. 5.9 to a 7.2

Wife clicked the order button the other day , nice surprise in mail --computer went together easily --a ton of room in the case even with the large push/pull cpu cooler and the frozer 3 equipped graphics card that required renting a crane to put in :P

thought I had a sata connect dvd player around to load windows and such with , however all mine are ide cable (been along time since i purchased one lol ) so had to order one , should be here in a few days --so build is together save the dvd drive ---hopefully will be up and running for this weekend :)

ATI who /what @??

Amd 8 core and ati 7870 oc --up and rolling ---booted up fine , from the get go --memory detected (dual 8 mb sticks ) and all 8 cores unlocked and optimized via the windows hotfix for the bulldozer chips --

cpu overclocked out of the box from 3.1 to 4.2 with no wattage change or increase -- temps staying at 32.c and 34c on the vid card ---

So far have achieved sustained 230 fps on ultra settings (everything maxed ) 1920 -1080 on skyrim with the high res texture pack loaded --loading up BF3 to see how it does on that now --- still some more tweaking to do ...

will put it through a burn in test on some benchmark programs tonight ---hopefully I dont blow it up lol

Windows loaded in 4 seconds and yes I came in my pants @@!!!
