That's when I remembered why they have these rules and ways that we do things in our JUDICIAL system. First there is usually more to the story than what meets the eye on first glance. Taking a little time and doing the homework of investigating this young man just may save someone else's life in the future. I asked myself, "If the life we save was one of my friends or family would I have wanted him dead without investigating him? I would say NO. Secondly, we are a society where our justice system is based on a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. If we killed him after a swift trial and didn't properly and completely investigating him then we have a mob mentally. I believe he is guilty but DUE PROCESS OF LAW may be slow but it usually gets to the truth and that is why every one involved needs to do their job tediously from the investigating officers to the prosecuting attorneys. It's not always as cut and dried as we sometimes thinks it is. May God help the people do their jobs where justice is served and where all the wounded can begin to mend in body and soul. I pray for the ones who lost loved ones in this horrific event! Edited July 21, 2012 by Bigmeandean DEEJAYKEG 1 Awards

For any of us not trained as First Responders our first response would have been to GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE. Be it to save yourself or your family. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, as they say it's 20-20. So is second guessing. However placed in the same position as the patrons of that theater, even if you carried a gun, your first response would be to find safety not to make an aggressive move. Christ, all we would have needed to make things worse for gun ownership would have been a shoot out in a smoke filled dark movie theater by persons with their concealed carry guns and the "perp". The carnage would probably have been worse. Face it, most of us here do not have the skill to respond properly in the CO situation. It is a sad fact that many of us who own guns and have carry permits do not also take the time to learn how to REALLY use your gun. The right of gun ownership here in the states does not include any skill requirements or eye tests. I liken it to just giving out a drivers license without ever learning to drive because it is your "right". My opinion is contrary to that of the NRA of which I am a member. But I think to own a gun or hunt you should be required to demonstrate at least the basic skill to safely do so. Edited July 21, 2012 by Shamu NickTheGrip and Sonovabich 2

Driving cars is not a right its a privilege! Only used as an easily understood example that certain skill sets should be required before issuing permits or licenses.

Pity Colorado is a lethal injection state as they "don't want the person to suffer" I wish they could export his ass to Utah where they still use a Firing squad!!! As ti the armed citizens - I think the deterrent factor is more important than actually having a gun battle. People like this are basically cowards at heart. How else would you describe someone who shot a 6 year old girl to death (the youngest victim) If they knew there were going to be people in the theater armed i am sure they would look elsewhere for a captive group of unarmed people to shoot at Steak 1 Awards
