Damn near everything you buy these days is made that way, especially cars and consumer electronics. Wild Fire and JohnnyDos 2 Awards

Since the phone market has been saturated, they have to think of more creative ways to keep sales flowing. If the phone was good build quality, it wouldn't have to be replaced and apple would lose sales.

If the phone was good build quality, it wouldn't have to be replaced and apple would lose sales. What they're doing is called "planned obsolescence" and most companies do it one way or another. Most video game consoles are re-released every few years and the new systems won't play games from old consoles. Car manufacturers stop making parts for older models so it's difficult to keep older cars maintained. Apple is one of the best at this scam. Unlike most cell phones consumers can't easily change the battery in iphones, and having Apple do it for you costs just a little less than buying a completely new iphone. They also force users of old iphones to upgrade their operating systems which made the phones run much slower, thereby making the new versions look much more appealing. More than anything Apple appeals to their devoted users who want the latest and greatest versions of their products. Just watch the news when there is a new release of an apple product to see the thousands of people standing in line. It's really sad to see how easily people are suckered. baldie and eidolonFIRE 2 Awards

Apple does this way to much... My gf has an iPhone 4 she got the 7 update and it ran slow as dirt... I then rolled the system back to 6 blocked apple updates and her phone runs like new... They purposely make the new updates memory heavy... The newer the phone the better it runs the new update... The older the slower.... They try to suck every penny out of there consumer and it works, they get away with it so they continue to do Awards
