Are Baby Walkers really banned in CA? They are banned from retail stores being sold at garage sales, flea markets or on street corners. it is also illegal to import, or advertise them for sale And if you have one in your house it is frowned upon and you should burn it so it cant be used again. The reason being is because the babies hurt themselves for example they fall down stairs or the burn themselves on ovens. They also said that it doesn't teach babies how to walk. So anyone here from CA that can help clarify this, it would be greatly appreciated!
 Awards

This ban extends to modified and second hand baby walkers, including those sold at a yard sales or flea markets. The Consumers Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) changed the items that were allowed to be sold at such sales. Owners of baby walkers may be fined up to $100,000 or sentenced to up to six months in jail. KingStinger!
 Awards

I disagree. As a father I can attest to the fact that it is impossible to watch your child, pet or anything 100% of every minute of everyday whether they are awake or asleep. It's that moment you look away to flip your eggs, put a bowl in the dishwasher, etc that these mistakes can occur. The issue is the walker, not the parent. This country saw fit to ban it for its dangerous potentials and that I have to agree with (one mans opinion) Edited August 26, 2014 by KingStinger! But kids put themselves in dangerous situations frequently until they become adults and we as parents can only do the best we can and teach them right from wrong. I do feel that banning walkers is overkill. Regardless of whether an infant is in a walker, crawling, or just learning to walk on their own, anyplace an infant can fall down steps should have a child-proof gate. Just like cabinets and toilet seats should have child-proof locks and swimming pools should have fences around them with locking gates. It's just common sense and I don't need the government to tell me how it should be done. Just out of curiosity, if a family lives in a 2 story house and fails to put up a barrier to prevent the child from falling down the stairs, are the parents guilty of child neglect in Canada?
