  1. I know someone who runs a 9500gt also and anytime he plays on a pb enabled server he gets all kinds of pb errors,The 9500gt is not a gaming card,it was meant for video editing.
  2. Some gtx4xx series cards are having what they call long shader compile times causing hitching and freezing.Treyarch is working with nVidia on a fix.
  3. For the crashes make sure directx 9.0 is up to date, you can try any or all of these to eliminate steam as the cause; (1) Disable Steam Cloud sync: Right click on Black Ops Multi in steam games Go to Properties / Updates / Uncheck Enable steam cloud sync. (2) Disable Ingame Steam: Steam / Settings / In Game / uncheck “Enable Steam Community In-Game” (3) Lower the CPU Priority on Steam process: open your Task Manager click the "processes" tab - then click "steam.exe" go down to "set priority" and set to "low".
  4. 1.6 and 1.7 is all that's needed. The 1.6 patch is all inclusive up to and including 1.6.I've reinstalled many times and only needed the 1.6 and 1.7 patch. 1.6- http://www.filefront.com/10492517/Call-of-Duty-4-Modern-Warfare-v1.6-Patch/ 1.7- http://www.filefront.com/10829906/Call-of-Duty-4-Modern-Warfare-v1.7-Patch/
  5. A modified inf is needed to run desktop graphics drivers on a laptop. You can do this with the "mobility modder" from Driver Heaven. The 4750 is not supported though, are you sure it's not a 4570? When using any driver,on a laptop, other than the one from the manufacturer may cause you to lose some features that originally came with your laptop. mobility modder- http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php
  6. Release date for this game is 2-1-2011
  7. I'm sure that PunkBusterB is set to auto start but try setting it to auto restart; Control Panel/Admin Tools/Services/Right Click PunkBusterB/Properties/Recovery- in all 3 drop down boxes choose "Restart the Service",click ok
  8. "PCI Simple Communication Controller is a generic label given by Windows to PCI cards in a PC when the drivers for the device are not installed."Do you have any question marks in device manager?,is there a pci modem in the pc?If so try disabling it if your not using it or reinstall the driver if you are using it.
  9. This sounds like an overlay program is conflicting with pb,like x-fire,evga precision, security software ,etc.If your using evga precision, there is a setting in the on-screen display server to turn on "stealth" mode to avoid this kick.
  10. All the settings for the game are in the config file. There's one in the main folder for the "stock game" and one in each "mod" folder. Not sure why it's resetting for you as I've not had that problem.Check and make sure that you have full permissions for that file.Right click on the config file, click security, then highlight users and click the edit button and allow full control. The locations for the config file will be in one of these places depending if UAC is on or off; UAC off- (C:)/program files(x86)/Activision/Call of Duty2/mod folder/players/ingame name/config.mp UAC on- user name/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files(x86)/Activision/Call of Duty2/mod folder/players/ingame name/config.mp If you want to open the config file just right click and choose properties then "open with" and choose word pad.
  11. If the gpu is EVGA,call and talk to tech support and explain your problem to them. They may very well recommend an rma for your card. EVGA-1-888-800-evga(3842)
  12. With uac off these should be the locations; CoD4-(C:)/program files(x86)/Activision/Call of Duty 4/usermaps CoDWaW-username/AppData/local/Activision/Call of Duty World at War/usermaps (organize/folder and search options/view/show hidden files and folders). If your running any of the games as admin they will be in virtual store.
  13. Not sure what you want but I'll take a stab at it.Click start/Maintenance/Backup and Restore/Create a System Image. Windows 7's own imaging works well but it won't restore to a new different size drive, has to be the exact same partition size as when the image was made.Restoring to a different size drive,I recommend "Todo Backup 1.1" which will also let you mount the image as a virtual drive to restore individual files and folders.
  14. If you click on a file that has compatibility files the tab will automatically show.If the "compatibility files" tab does not show for a particular file, then there are no compatiblity files for it. Compatibility files are stored in the virtual store under the user's profile; username/appdata/local/virtualstore.You must have "show hidden files and folders" checked under file and folder options. If your running with the user account control on compatibility files will be in the virtualstore,if your running with it off there will be no compatibility files because they will be in c:/porgram files(x86)
  15. Run this tool and it will run a test and reinstall pb if necessary. pbsvc- http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php also use pbsetup to make sure pb is updated as CoD4 has had a bunch of pb updates lately psetup-http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
  16. Any errors?
  17. Some people have had problems running the older games with the 4xx series cards of which the new beta driver was suppose to address.Like you said "it's like CoD4 doesn't detect the gpu".That error looks like an internal driver error.Whether it's caused by your ssd card.the gpu itself or the driver I can't really say. What does "dxdiag"say?
  18. Yea those temps are good.Have you tried disabling nvidia hd audio to rule out an IRQ conflict? 1. go into device manager- go under display adapters,gtx470, properties and see what it says for location.. E.G. "PCI bus xx" 2. go under system devices 3. you will see two HD audio devices.. check them both to see which one matches your GTX 470 pci bus location. disable (not uninstall) the one that matches your 400 series card. 4. check under sound devices and it should no longer be there. The newest beta drivers(260.63) have a new installer that lets you do a custom install where you can choose not to install the HD audio driver.
  19. CHKN what are the temps for your card,is it overheating? Also ccleaner won't clean all the driver leftovers,I recommend Driver Sweeper 2.5.0 for that. Glad your fixed Nitro.
  20. Newer nvidia drivers are optimized for the 4xx series cards. What card are you running? If it's a 2xx series the 197.45's are recommended for that series.
  21. This is usually a conflict with another iwd file.Look in your CoD2 main folder and make sure there are no TMP files or another z69.iwd in there. You could also try the XI downloader.
  22. Run the DPC latency tool and see if you have any latency which will cause drop outs .If its high start disabling devices in device manager until you identify the device driver causing the problem. If its sound try different drivers, the newer Realtek drivers have caused problems for some. DPC latency checker-http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
  23. See if this will work for you.Make sure you have a mic plugged in.If your using onboard sound go to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Recording Tab,Right Click in the window and choose"Show Disabled Devices" - "Stereo Mix" should appear,Right Click and choose enable, click OK.
  24. 1.6 and 1.7
  25. You said single payer runs fine. What happens when you try multiplayer?,did you install the 1.3 patch?
