Yet another helpful and I must say expected post. Will you also be saying the same thing to the others who have supported my claim? The reason I started playing this game and joined this clan was to have fun and laugh, which I still experience occasionally. Forgive me for attempting to have that experience on a more consistent basis. Instead of cherry picking some of my comments, try to understand that several people on the west coast, that all have reliable connections, have started to have consistent ping issues within the last couple of months. As for your comments regarding laughter, I enjoy laughter and humor very much. You don't know me and I don't know you so please don't assume. I don't recall insulting you, so that comment is difficult to understand. If your comment stating that you would support me abstaining from playing in protest is not in jest, I will do my best to stay away when you or anyone else who has a problem with me is in-game, I want everyone to have fun . I mostly play on weekends so that should not be an issue. Try reading a bit more carefully Glove. What part of "I'm on the west coast too and have been having the same problem" don't you understand? I support your claim, but you're more interested in being dismissive and condescending than actually getting an answer to your query. Perhaps if you were to occasionally start a new thread on the message boards that isn't critical of the COD2 servers in some fashion, or act passive/aggressive in your responses to those who took the time to try and answer your questions, you might get results more to your liking.

Glad you got it working Joe. As Sgt York mentioned, it may have also had something to do with Windows updates. I had about 20 updates download automatically to my laptop last night so I'll be interested to see if it causes any problems.

Several of us (especially on the west coast which apparently is still the case) have been complaining for years about intermittent ping issues and nothing has changed, but if you would like to abstain from playing in protest I will completely understand and support your actions. I feel for you. When I was in my 20's some guy backed his car up into my driveway, took about 2 dozen guns and a few grand in camera equipment. A neighbor saw the guy and recorded his license plate number and they picked him up a few hours later. All of my shit was gone. It went to trial and my neighbor testified that he saw the man open my garage door, place a lot of shit in his trunk and drive away. The jury let the fucker go for "lack of evidence". I had all of the serial numbers and none of it showed up until 5 years later. The guy that was aquitted tried to rob a bank and got caught. They searched his home and found one of my camera lenses, but the rest never did turn up. I was young and dumb without insurance on a rental house. Everything was a total loss. About all you can hope for is that your insurance will pay most of what your stuff is worth or costs to replace. Sometimes the cops get lucky and get all of your stuff back, but I'm afraid the odds are against you my friend. I hope you beat the odds.

The fact that it's happening to you on two separate servers leads me to believe that it is on your end since the servers are in different locations. I've been dealing with ping issues on the XI servers since I've been here (4+ years) and it's either something you learn to deal with or you just don't play. I've tried everything possible to improve my ping and even changed from DSL to cable which put my speed at 20+ mps, and still no improvement on my ping. We're just too damn far from the servers, and subtle changes made to networks in our part of the US can have a huge impact on our ping. I decided a long time ago to just deal with it and do the best I can with what I have. Yes it's a pain in the ass but somehow I still manage to play fairly well and win occasionally.

A random act of kindness is always called for when the opportunity presents itself. I think most people do it whenever possible and never expect anything in return. One in particular that stands out for me happened a couple years ago. I noticed a woman and two small children standing in the store parking lot with a cardboard sign that read, "out of gas and stuck, need to feed my kids". You see that a lot out here in California and I'm sure a lot of the time it's a scam, but after I spent an hour buying groceries, there was the woman in front of me in line with her kids buying bread, milk, and bologna to feed her kids. She was short a couple bucks and I moved in front of her and swiped my debit card. The checker looked at me and smiled, and I said I wanted $100 cash back. The checker got her managers approval and the mother of the kids started crying and thanking us for helping. Hopefully she got a full tank of gas and got to wherever she needed to go with the kids. I'd much rather give to somebody I can see is in need instead of a charitable organization that probably keeps two thirds of the donation for administrative costs.

Here is what my ping meter looked like this morning on HLSW. The green baseline in around 85. On days like this it just isn't worth playing.

I get the same thing on both COD2 servers frequently. My spikes usually only last for 2-3 seconds, but they always happen at the worst time, like when I'm shooting at Pete or Bart. I miss the shot, and they kill me.

Yes ladies, but the problem is that's exactly what they would have done if you would have refused the search, and I can guarantee they would have planted something in your car and given an even more intrusive cavity search once you got to the police station. Cops like that need to be ass raped with a green pineapple for a few hours. They tarnish the reputation of good cops.
