  1. Managed to scrape a jet along the ground, myself, recently... I can't claim to have planned it though!
  2. I think that highly unlikely unless there is something within the firmware that differentiates XI's servers so one only experiences CI when connected to them. The dropped connections have been a feature of ADSL and have worsened since ADSL2+ was connected. The CI problem has only occurred in the last two days or so and doesn't affect European servers. Chile mentioned earlier that other Brits were experiencing them on an XI COD4 server. It makes me wonder if there's something amiss with the pipeline out of Gameservers' data centre.
  3. I tried playing Vietnam Freezetag, this evening - same symptoms. So, I returned to BF3 and European servers...where I was kicked by a picky admin! (So pleased we don't have them on the clan servers! LOL!)
  4. UPDATE: Having done the research and with the connection dropping up to four times per day, I reached the point where I could wait no longer! There were so many conflicting reviews of the Cisco/Linksys model I was considering that I found an alternative that should do the job and enable use of QoS too. I hope to have a Belkin N600 DB installed here within 48 hours!
  5. Some further observations about the constant "connection interrupted" problem in-game on the COD5 DM server. Ping and connection speeds are normal (good). BF3 (Hardcore 32) server is similarly affected (but not as forgiving - it throws the player off). Non-XI servers are not affected (both COD5 and BF3) and one can play normally (those I played were in Europe). Aggravating factors: 1) There are sharks in the Atlantic; 2) It is raining here; 3) I get my Internet service from a British Telecoms subsidiary. If you don't see much of me in-game in the coming days, or I "quit" abruptly, you'll know why...
  6. One of these two, I guess...
  7. Welcome, dadda2 !
  8. Have fun! There are no borders to friendship! Hope to be able to play with you sometime.
  9. Beers, can I get fries with that?
  10. Note to foreign polyglots... Exercise caution in the use of the "F word" when conversing in English (in the UK). Though the courts take the view that it is normal language, grave offence can be caused by speaking it within a culture that prides itself on manners and politeness. More common is the alternative term: "bally". An example: "Where are my bally jodhpurs?! I can't play bally polo without them!" Or: "My good man, I am unable to pay that bally price as I have a polo pony to support!". Such emphasis is best delivered in the Received Pronunciation accent ( as used by royalty and David Cameron). If you must use a regional accent such as those used up north, substitute the term "soddin'" for "bally" and that will be understood. I bally well hope that is of use to you!
  11. Let's hope they lay some more fibre optic cables down under the ocean! Hope we can soon play with you! Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika!
  12. Though I didn't know of him, what you say is correct. The old-style reporter used to verify their facts and take pride in what they wrote. The behaviour of today's breed of hack means we can trust little of what is reported. I was greatly pleased to learn that a BBC space correspondent who reported on the Moon landing by Apollo 11 is alive and well and living three miles away from me. He is 97 years old! Here's Reg Turnill...
  13. After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." Matthew 28:1-10
  14. Indications from researching this story are that the perpetrator was shot in the shoulder and not seriously injured. See: ABC News and Kidnapping, Murder and Mayhem (blog) and Buckeye Firearms Association. Looks like a genuine video with fake subtitles. Sorry, Maz!
  15. Both of you! Welcome!
  16. The indications are that, though the plane hit an apartment building, there have been few injuries and no fatalities. Both crewmen ejected safely. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-17640618
  17. Why not post a video of your pride and joy? I'll kick off with a clip of "Enterprise" going slow ahead into the village of Braunston, Northamptonshire, England. It gives you an idea of what the English canals are like and of the boats that are used on them. The speed limit, by the way, is 4mph and I was chugging along at about 1.7! (I have a few more here but will only post on request as I don't want to spam the forum with narrowboats!)
  18. LOL, that's my youngest son. A fine figure of a man - you breed 'em well over there!
  19. The engine in our boat is a 2.2 litre inboard Nanni diesel. Until quite recently, all fuel we bought for it (red diesel - stained to identify it as such so it could not be used for road vehicles) was tax-free so considerably cheaper than road fuel. However, the EU would not renew the exemption for marine craft on inland waterways so in came taxation. However, the fuel we don't use for propulsion but to generate electricity on-board isn't taxable. This means we have to make a fuel declaration every time we fill up and the fuel-seller then calculates what we owe. The usual ratio is 60% propulsion, 40% generation. Some sellers break the law by saying they won't sell fuel other than at that ratio whilst most allow you to specify in units of 10%. It's useful when you don't do many miles in a day but keep the engine running to charge the batteries. I guess we burn about a litre per hour so two US gallons or so per day or up to four on a long summer day.
  20. The best thing to do with a MOV format video is upload it to YouTube. You can set it as a private video so only those knowing the link would have access to it, then post it as a YouTube video to the forum in the usual way. Hope that helps.
  21. That's a nice boat but I had a "holy crap" moment when I saw the first photo! Who is that?! He's just about my double!!!
  22. Hope it's not "getting so hard..." http://youtu.be/z1LOWEufAH0
  23. Is there a medal for longest running thread in the forum? I reckon Gorilla deserves one for this - not least because it is the best seen for a long, long while! October 2010? What were we listening to in the "old days"? (No apologies for the repeat - we deserve it!)
