It is a disgrace that a traitor directly responsible for the deaths and wounding of other soldiers due to deserting his post in a war zone, walked away scot-free today. He deserved to be shot. At the least he should have been imprisoned for life. This decision brings shame upon the U.S. Army and all who have served honorably. It insults those who died in battle. This coward had better hope he never crosses the street in front of me. Every American should remember his name and turn their backs to him at every opportunity.

This bastard - and an earlier terrorist - got here through what's called the Diversity Immigrant Visa program, a perfect example of the distorted rationality employed by the left. The program is a lottery that randomly grants 50,000 permanent resident visas annually to persons who come from countries with low rates of immigration in the five prior years. But why would you want to do that? Why just pick people at random to become permanent U.S. residents? The answer is, "to diversity the immigrant population," say people like Sen. Schumer. But why would you want to do that? Of what benefit is it to America, or more to the point, to American citizens, to "diversify the immigrant population?" Shouldn't eligibility for permanent residency be based on what a would-be immigrant can offer America, like particular job skills for instance? Shouldn't entry into the U.S. be merit based rather than at random? Congress should immediately shut this program down and apologize for enacting it in the first place.
