  4. Keep in mind that most munufacturers ssd's will not update the firmware unless it's in AHCI mode.
  5. My 950 pro was running slow also. Looked in device manager and for my AHCI driver the standard Microsoft driver was listed,( my ssd was listed as a removable device in "safely remove hardware"). I found an Intel driver that was modded for W10 and also digitally signed. Upon installation ssd was removed from "safely remove hardware" and my read write scores increased greatly. 7. I used Display Driver Uninstaller, (DDU), when I installed the latest driver and one of the steps performed is to create 2 registry keys that disable driver updates through Windows update. It does this so that a clean installation can be performed. Seems to be working so far, no more Nvidia drivers pushed through Windows update.
  8. Windows update force installed driver 376.53 today even though driver updates were turned off (regedit). Even with the Nvidia driver hidden in Windows update it still installed. Only way to keep it from reinstalling was to install the very latest driver (378.49) with network cable unplugged. Seems to be complaints about this all over the net. Has anyone else experienced this?

  22. "I guess I will have to bite the bullet and do a clean install of win 10." Make sure you download the latest version of Windows 10 if your doing a clean install and using your Windows 7 key. If it's not version 1511 or newer it won't work. Media Creation Tool; https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO
  23. As of the Windows 10 November update, (1511), you can now do a clean install and use your Windows 7 or 8.1 key to activate. Ive done this 5 times so far and has worked every time. It will not work though with a volume licence.
  24. Have the same problem with high CPU usage on one of my Windows 7 machines. As soon as I disable Windows update my CPU usage goes back to normal. I'm thinking its because there pushing the Windows 10 update all the time. Just change Windows update to manual start or disable and use off line update.
