  1. I would go for a 9xx series card,gtx950 or greater, they use a lot less power and run very cool . They are pci-e 3.0 and they WILL run in a pci-e 2.0 slot
  2. If your using a creative sound card or headsets with surround software, it's hit or miss if it will work with Windows 10. Realtek audio works fine.
  3. I'm running CoD2 on Windows 10 x64 with no problems. Installed direct x 9.0c, changed to xp sp3 compatibility and it runs fine. This is for the disc version not steam.
  4. It would seem that Windows 10 will be required for the latest hardware now; http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/microsoft-will-not-support-older-windows-versions-on-upcoming-pc-hardware.html
  5. Creatives newer sound cards have something like this too, it's called "scout mode".
  6. Go to your CoD2 Main folder and look for the problem map. If it is a TMP file, delete it and redownload the map.
  7. The gtx 960 is a good 1080p, 60hz card. On older games like CoD4 you might be able to run 144hz with v-sync on but on newer titles I doubt it. "Unlike V-SYNC, G-SYNC has no impact on input latency, which makes it perfect for first-person shooter games." Any card above a gtx 650ti will support G-sync but only when using the display port.
  8. Has the psu been replaced?
  9. I agree with X-ray, I say it's the power supply. Power supplies will degrade over time and lose some of their rated power output. If the psu was boarder line to begin with it could be a problem now that it is older.
  10. Just got a new monitor for my gtx 960, tried a 27"" first and was too big. Ended up with a 24'' Dell at 1080p, 2ms, works really well. AKA- Duke_T (CoDWaW)
  11. Not sure of location in Windows 7 but in Windows 10 in control panel/Default Programs/Set your default programs, you can assign the defaults to all your programs. Office products are usually set to default automatically.
  12. "user name"/AppData/Local/Activision/CoDWaW/players/profiles: if you save the CoDWaW folder you will save your mods usermaps and profile. If you have UAC turned on this may be in a different location.
  13. What operating system are you using these on? I have yet to find a good surround sound solution for Windows 10 that isn't problematic. original post about this headset; https://www.xtremeidiots.com/topic/58290-headset/
  14. For those of you in DemonElf's situation there is a tool to block and monitor Windows 10 installation; go here- www.ultimateinsider.com and click on "downloads" and read the user's guide for the "GWX Control Panel". You can download from the link to the right. Microsoft is continuing to release new updates to force Windows 10 upgrade including one in this months updates.
  15. Not sure if this will help or not, but I know people who have taken a white marker or a small dab of whiteout and put a dot in the exact center of your monitor. If you line up your crosshair with the dot you should hit what your aiming at, may just take some strain off your eyes.
  16. Thank's, working now.
  17. This is the same problem I am having. Delete the TMP.iwd and retry gives same error over and over, only happens on the DM server
  18. I switched to Windows 10 and reinstalled CoD2. I can play and download maps and mods on the TDM server but not the DM server. I get a download failure when trying to join the server- (download failure getting 'http:/28/e28.iwd'). Have deleted the mod and retried with no luck, running as admin no luck either. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
