So a buddy of mine and I made the two hour drive to Conowingo Dam on Sunday morning. For those of you not familiar with Conowingo, its on the Susquehanna that borders northern MD and PA. It has one of the largest concentrations of Bald Eagles on the east coast. It's a great place to view our magnificent national bird. I have been there when there was more than 100 Bald Eagles in the air at a time. It's spectacular and worth the trip. Anyway a few shots from our trip on Sunday. Enjoy! Juvenile Bald Eagle checks his 'payload' as another swoops in hoping to steal it... Fresh Sushi Delivery, compliments of a mature Bald Eagle A juvenile Bald Eagle in hot pursuit of a mature Bald Eagle carrying it's feast. Shad carry-out, anyone hungry? A shot I took of a handful of photographers there on Sunday. This was the busiest day I had ever seen at Conowingo. -
This makes me so sad. I vacation there every other year...absolutely love the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg. Heard this morning that the entire community of Black Bear Falls, where we normally stay....has been destroyed.....

A few pictures I took during my photographer tour of Upper Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ during our trip out west in October. These were all taken with my Canon 5D Mark IV mated with a Canon 17-40 f/4L USM on a tripod and using a remote shutter release. Most were shot at ISO 100 in aperture priority at f/11 which resulted in long exposures of 45 seconds or more. If you ever plan to take a tour in Upper Antelope Canyon drop me a note before you make your reservations....there are things you'll definitely want to know. Anyway enjoy! -

Was in Vegas for a conference earlier this week. Decided to take my camera with me. Didn't have all that much time to go play with it, but I did manage to get out very early one morning (before 5am) and grabbed a nice shot at the Bellagio. Vegas is pretty cool, but it's not all that....... Maybe if I was buff, single and in my 20s again. Enjoy! -

Spent last week in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Had to deal with two tropical storms....but last night was wicked wild as Tropical Storm Hermie blew through with 70 MPH gusts. Took this panoramic photo with my phone one evening as thunder storms rolled trhough.... -

Pre-ordered my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV yesterday. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Headed out west to the Might Five parks in UT (Bryce, Zion, Arches, Canonlands & Capital Reef) in October. Hopefully I'll have it by then. -

Seriously a great deal! Benro makes a nice tripod. If I didn't already have a few, I would be all over this! -
Welcome to the quieter, more peaceful side of VA. Rockingham county is nice.....what brings you to VA?

whats your favorite video editing software?

I have used Pinnacle Studio extensively as well as Cyberlink Power Director and dabbled with Adobe Premier Pro. All have a bit of a learning curve, but for ease of use, I would probably lean towards Powerlink CyberDirector or Pinnacle Studio. But if yo're looking for complete control and awesome workflow, none are better than Adobe Premier. All you need is a thick wallet. -
Thanks everyone! To be honest, you all already made me feel like a part of this big dysfunctional family. I guess this just makes it official. I'm an IDIOT!

Just got home from a couple of days on the boat. Practice a little BIF (Bird In Flight) with my Canon 5D MK III and Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM. As appropriate for Memorial Day, I give you the symbol of these great United States Of America. Always remember those who have sacrificed everything so that we may enjoy our freedom. A couple of shots of a male Banded Kingfisher. If you have ever tried to take a shot of one of these buggers flying at warp speed, you'll appreciate that I got it even close to being in focus. An Osprey hit right next to the boat and I was totally not ready. This is a 'grab' shot as it came up with a Sunfish. Not perfectly in focus, but interesting nonetheless. Last but not least three consecutive shots of a Bald Eagle snagging a fish from the water. These are major crop shots as this eagle was easily 100 yards or more away....so they are far from perfect. -
There goes the neighborhood, right?
