  1. Just so folks on here are CLEAR ABOUT FACTS ... a Nystagmus test is completely irrelevant and unrelated to a breathalyzer and Intoxilyzer test. In layman's terms, Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) is designed for testing the eyes for both illegal drugs and/or alcohol influence, but the breathalyzer (portable breath test a.k.a PBT) and Intoxilyzer (The formal, legally-binding PBT test done at the station on a bigger machine) are technically and chemically designed to discover alcohol-based substances (beer, wine, liquor). If narcotics or other illegal drugs are believed to be in a person's system, HGN can detect it. If necessary, a drug recognition expert (DRE) is consulted and may even be called in to directly administer tests. Regardless, any police officer that enforces DUI/DWI laws in the United States must be trained and certified under NHTSA standards. A DRE has an even higher level of training. Both are federal/state certified by training for enforcement and court purposes. I'm not an attorney, just a 30 year law enforcement vet. I've been through the training and worked on the streets in the states. However, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one night. By the way, for those that are confused, marijuana is still illegal in the United States until/unless the federal government changes the laws and classification of marijuana as an illegal drug. Individual states and their localities do NOT have the right to change related laws. Individual states do NOT have the right to supercede federal laws. Period. The overwhelming majority of marijuana produced or brought in to the United States is man-altered ... unnatural. Side note: Those that want to compare marijuana to alcohol-based products are simply uneducated or just want to get high while proclaiming a false narrative. There is NO scientific evidence (empirical evidence) that marijuana provides ANY medical purpose or positive effect for any medical condition. Especially man-altered or synthetic). Proven. Final note ... blood tests are not required for DUI/DWI or public intoxication charges. In fact, a warrant is not even needed for a blood test in many states (ie: personal injury collision or certain other crimes). It depends on the known factual circumstances.
  2. Stay in the home, Rob. It's much safer for everyone. They only let you out for a few hours a day for a reason.
  3. It was a message that I never expected to receive. His girlfriend wants everyone to know that he loved playing on XI servers, but most importantly he always talked about all of us with a smile on his face. I remember playing and voice chatting with him many times over the last couple of years. Always a fun time. Be at peace and free, _derXos_/Matej ...
  4. Found an old photo of Rob playing with his friends back in the day ...
  5. Rob is only allowed Internet access for a few hours a day at the home. They also disabled his PornHub account (not surprising ... he bogs down the WiFi at the facility so much that even the caregivers can't access their daily logs), so he vents his frustrations on here now. Sometimes I feel bad for World War 1 vets like Rob. Rob, next time you're on this side of the pond, I'll share a beer with you and show you what a modern firearm looks like. No muskets or blunderbusses here. :)
  6. This guy lives near me. If you're in to history and relic hunting, then this is the channel for you. He even did a TV show on your side of the big pond. https://www.youtube.com/user/aquachigger
  7. I'm reading this while cleaning guns ...
  8. Rob only plays when the let him out of the home for recreation.
  9. A bientôt sur COD4 mon petit cupcake!
  10. As a licensed (state) collector, it's always nice to see the transition. Between 1992 - 2020, many changes have occurred. Here are a couple of different changes between 2002 - 2014. Things have progressed since. Note the handguns are not pictured in the latest pics ... along with additional long guns ... and will not be.
  11. You and @ShinyAbsol are just jealous that you can't own such things over there. ?
  12. My first issued S&W was a model 65-3 .357 magnum revolver. When we switched to the Glock, I was able to buy it from the agency. I still have it to this day. ? Side note: it was a bitch to carry concealed back in the day. lol
  13. Nothing wrong with a 1911. I used to own one, but as you said, it was a bit heavy to carry concealed. I sold it off and invested in other firearms. I do miss my Sig P229. I should have kept that one.
  14. HK rocks! On a side note, I do miss my Sig P229. I had the conversion parts to run it for both 357 Sig and 40 S&W. I traded it to an NYPD officer for a G26 years ago. Fun fact ... I bought a surplus police Beretta 96D and converted it to an M9 using USGI parts last year. Smooth gun ... love the Beretta!
  15. Good call!!! Unlike us, most people don't plan ahead. Starting now is always too late. ?
  16. I'm not a Glock fanboy, but I've been issued them and used them for decades ... G17, G19, G22, G23, G26, G27, G30SF. Tons of training and field use turned me into a believer of the Glock as a valid, reliable tool for self defense. Are they perfect? No ... there is no perfect firearm. Is there a better semi-auto pistol platform out there that beats a Glock? Not in my professional and personal experience. I've owned (and still own) different makes/models/calibers of handguns. However, my choice for concealed carry during -- and post-professional experience -- is a Glock. I currently carry a G26 and a G30SF. For the record, I personally recommend sticking to a 9mm or 45 ACP Glock, as the 40 S&W has proven to beat up their pistols pretty bad over time. All of these rounds are effective for both personal defense and target shooting, but I'm just speaking about the overall wear-and-tear of your pistol.
  17. You left out the important facts of owning a firearm: TRAINING, SAFETY and RESPONSIBILITY. Those apply to ANY firearm in your home, whether you have children or not. By the way, a quick online or 8 hour in-person training class at the range does NOT qualify as training. Neither does shooting static paper targets and tin cans in a field a couple of times a year. I don't know what your professional background and training is related to firearms, but mine is extensive. I recommend the Glock for my aforementioned reasons as it comes in many sizes (some adjustable for grip), calibers, concealment capabilities, reliability and ease of basic maintenance. I am by far from being a "Glock fanboy", but I've been issued and trained many different models and calibers over nearly 30 years. The fact is that they work for whatever the intended purpose. I own MANY different makes/models/calibers of handguns, long guns and shotguns, but I can personally attest to the effectiveness, reliability and ease of use of a Glock in deadly force encounters, particularly under stress (and after real world training). No personal offense, but anyone that leaves a firearm accessible to an infant, toddler, juvenile or untrained adult under any circumstances probably shouldn't own one in the first place.
  18. YES!!! We carried the S&W 3000 way back in the day until we switched to the Remington 870 Marine Magnum. When I was a detective in ISS, I was issued an 870 with the top folding stock. I personally own two 870's now that I'm retired; one is configured with old school police wood furniture, the second with a modern Hogue pistol grip and fore-end (both 18 inch barrels). I only carry/use slugs and 00 buck in them just like we were taught.
  19. Meanwhile, I'm retired and fleeing the authorities daily. Run, Rob, run!
  20. Close enough ... which one has WiFi that escapees can use? https://www.carehome.co.uk/care_search_results.cfm/searchcountry/Scotland/searchchtype/old-age
