it seem that the whole world is trying to tip toe around egg shells. People need to pull their heads out of their ass. well first I would get win 7 or 8.1, just my opinion but I had vista 64 and when I moved to win 7 with same hardware things seemed to run smoother. Could just be me but only my opinion. As for cards wait another month and see what nvidia comes out with to trump AMD's new releases. Then if the next gen isn't your thing the older models will lower in price.

I have found that most BSOD lately have been because of a failing memory stick. Windows has a built in memory test to find out which one is bad. Or you can pull all but one stick out and reboot and play around for a while and see if you get BSOD. Repeat using each memory stick by itself until the bad one is found. If not a memory stick be sure to turn off all overclocked items and return them to stock specs and overclock only one item at a time. Also check for dust bunnies that can cause cooling problems. Also you can check the power supply for failures as well. Good luck.

maybe its the motherboard that is the slow link in the chain. If you only have 1 16x pci slot and the other is a 8x or 4x then the cards will default to the lowest speed.

I have always wondered if I got one of those small refrigerators and take the cooling guts out of it and put in a large computer case and use it to phase cool the cpu so it could be overclocked to hell and back. I'm sure someone has already thought of this to some degree. I just thought how "cool" would it be, ha ha, to clock your cpu to 5 or 6 ghz and keep it safe. Any ideas?

the 770 goes for around 400.00 and the 780 is up around 640.00. both are way better than my radeon 6950

I am using the computer and have been since March of this year. As for the mobo rev. its 1.1 and I am using bios F7. Everything works great as is. I was leaning towards the 680 or the 770. But I might wait a month or two and see what comes out of the pipeline. The new gpus might not be much faster but it will drop the price of the older ones.

I'm looking to upgrade my video card, sound card and my speakers. I use the onboard sound right now. Don't pick on me because of my computer specs please cooler master 430 case XFX pro 750 power supply gigabyte GA-970A-D3 motherboard 16 gig ram (4 x 4 gig matched sticks) cooler master 212 evo cooler CPU= AMD FX-8120 clocked at 4ghz current video card is XFX Radeon HD 6950 2 gig win 7 64bit 24 in monitor logitec m705 mouse I currently have an old creative 5.1 speaker setup that I want to upgrade as well cause they are 14 years old. I wouldn't mind going with a good 2.1 speaker setup to save space. And I want to pair them with a nice sound card. I used to have a Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card and I loved it. I could hear people walking in games with great precision to where they were because of the positional audio. I miss that with the onboard audio. I'm looking to spend around 600.00 max on these 3 items. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have my AMD FX-8120 clocked at 4.2ghz and running a cooler master hyper 212 evo cooler with no problems at all. For the money you cant beat the performance in my mind. If amd shuts down intel will have no competition and will charge crazy high prices and do crappy updates like apple does on their iphones.

Well ill go first and get yelled at and made fun of but here I go. I prefer AMD yes I said AMD! I realize that intel clock for clock will beat most amd chips but I just can't see the need to spend 300.00 plus on a cpu when the 140.00 cpu from AMD will run my needs just fine. Plus if AMD fails and closed down intel would have a monopoly and could charge a lot more for their chips and would have no incentive to improve them but just marginal like apple does its products.
