A few maps new to this rotation. A couple have been around others have not. All will be 'best of 5' maps. mp_aliens: A new map of the colony on lv-246. It is dark and rainy and very nicely done. A big download. mp_farmland_beta: Big and open on hills, as the title suggests. mos_espa: everyone knows this star wars map. mp_woodrr: Average sized map but lots of trees and foliage on a hilly terrain. Note: since aliens is almost brand new it has not undergone extensive testing. Any issues post them. -
Unfortunately it also brings out the true haters in the vast anonymous posting universe. There are times when people should just shut the fuck up and rant about something else if they dont have something good to say. This is one of those times. R.I.P.

After development, marketing and distribution the current most expensive game is GTA5 at almost $250 million. CoD isnt nearly that much for development costs because in many ways later games are expansion or map packs not new titles they made from scratch. But the marketing and distribution is always a fixed cost. People are also paying for games the developers took a chance on that didnt make back these costs. Such as the Colonial Marines disaster or the last iteration of Duke Nukem. Like Hollywood and risky projects. Sometimes they spend a ton of money on things like The Lone Ranger that are total flops. They will never make another and for good reason. But they took the shot and spent the money. Pacific Rim is a great movie but the studio pretty much just broke even with it. Same thing and its questionable whether or not they will make a sequel. They didnt know if a movie like that would be a hit but set a reasonable budget and made it. And then you have Star Wars. The first movie was made nearly on a shoe string budget compared to the typical project of the day and the rest is history.

If the game has good replay value then that amount is fair. I assume that is the equivalent of around $60 US. However if the game sucks then its not. The same can be said of movie tickets however or blurays. Anything related to entertainment. But the whole 'in-game' purchasing idea has to go.

Small config change, on next restart, on how the Overtime round ( 4 to 4 ) is handled. Currently it lasts for 1 minute, then a 2 minute sudden death extension. However since the first minute is sudden death also that doesnt make sense. The change *should* alter it that so its a single sudden death OT timer of 3 minutes. The reason for the existence of 'overtime sudden death' is for situations where the 9th OT round itself is the usual with allowed respawns but shorter than the usual round time. Or if it is limited to say 3 respawns only. Then it would go to sudden death extra time if there is no winner at the end of regulation.

I suspect it has to do with the timings concerning the cellphone raising and clicking. I will be adding a double-check for existing d-uavs. So both when pushing 7-8-9 as well as when the player clicks the cellphone. Usually only one would be needed, during the click by the phone or the c4 handle, but the first check was added so people dont have to wait for weaponlower+cellphoneraise to find out whether or not something is allowed. Will see how it goes.

Or just do that in-game from your console. Make sure, when in-game, both punkbuster A and B are running.

Tis I, the great and powerful Sammy. Ahem... I looked and it shouldnt be possible for two of them to be up at the same time. Unless I suppose there is an unusual timing issue under very specific circumstances. There was a bug where the damage functions werent properly removing a destroyed defroster. But I thought I fixed that. So just so I understand, there were two of them *before* attempting to shoot one down?

You two were on different teams for the defroster? If so, that could be related. Not entirely sure if its supposed to allow both teams to have one up at the same time. I dont think so. As for the tac nuke, maybe someone fucked with things before it could kill everyone.

I *might* have found the problem with the player count but it needs to be monitored in-game to be sure. It is possible that the numbers are wrong if a new player joins the game and chooses a team but is put into spectate until the round is over. So this person may not actually be considered frozen. If this is the problem then it might be related to a fix that took care of rounds not ending even tho everyone is frozen or not in the game. Or it was some problem like that where the rounds wouldnt end. Does anyone remember what that problem was? It also might be caused by players going to spectate during OT. If you can, plz keep an eye out for this. Thx.

Hi all. Uploaded some new maps for testing on server #2. They are on the redirect for in-game downloads but currently not on the downloader. I invite everyone to try them out and see if there are any problems. A few map downloads are large. 100+ MB. But they are also very nice maps. They are various sizes. Some the typical cod size. Others medium. A few fairly large. Some daytime some nighttime. Give em a try and let me know your opinions or if there are any issues. I already know some are going to hate the big maps while others will like them but if used they would be short matches. One of the big ones is real dark so I already know it likely wouldnt work but give it a try. Night fighting in a big area requires a much different play style to win than the same-ol same-ol boring shit. A few in the rotation are actually existing maps but were previously on the 'bad list'. You likely have realtek sound. Go into the settings. Not sure where. Disable automatic front audio jack detection. Otherwise it wont load the proper driver when you boot up the computer.

How is this for potential BS for some? One of the things some have said is the annoying habit of douche bags that eat their own nades when a tac nuke was called in. After a minor discussion with iBoom I checked to see if I could prevent people doing that from damaging themselves and not cause problems in the process. The answer to that is no. I cannot stop suicides. However... what I can do is apply a negative score to those that do. If you suicide yourself, and a nuke is in progress, you lose 1000 points. Of course the only ones that would be affected by this are the aforementioned douches.

Like I said, change it so that and the end its two women... pick the ethnicity of your choice... then the right will act all butt hurt about the lgbt agenda. Over a soap commercial. Try and tell them they are just seeing things and they will say you just dont understand.

Well, I suppose some could see that as suggesting black guys are unclean while Chinese are clean. Switch the ethnicity around and the effect would be the same. Chinese are unclean and blacks are clean. Or change the black guy to the typical Mexican day laborer, and the woman white suburbanite, and it suggests Mexicans are unclean. Or if you really want to go for it, the woman is white. The painter is white and unclean. She washes him. Out comes a good looking black dude with the white woman. Show it in the south where many white men dont like that idea. All the exact same idea but switching the characters around and the point of view. Want to rile up butt hurt Republicans? In goes an unclean white guy. Out comes a great looking woman. Wait for the rants about LGBT agendas on Fox. Its all about whether or not you perceive something that may or may not be there. Humans are schizo that way.

To add: One of those things I didnt spend much time on, simply because I didnt screw with it to begin with, is that if a car is hit with a flash or stun grenade should have the same effect as it would on a player. However the owner having a tacmask does protect against them. Just to post for standard tacnade timings. Flashbangs have a short timer. EMP and smoke explode when they are no longer moving. Stun grenades explode the moment they hit something. So flashbangs have the greatest effect and range but the the timer gives a car a pretty good chance to get away unless its doing something like defrosting or hanging around. EMP will kill all cars in its radius but wont explode until its at rest. Throwing at range usually means it will bounce few times first, depending on terrain. Stuns explode immediately and with an accurate throw is the most likely to hit but does have distance checks for how much the car is affected (like players) and wont kill it. So all have their particular balances just like player weapons.

At some time in the past the minimum linear damage here... starting at the farthest range... was less. The default assumes softcore and 100 health. So if you were at the outer edges it would severely hurt you but not kill. Currently, because it is 30 health, if you are anywhere in the blast radius you are dead. Not accounting for obstructions or possibly the flak jacket. Uses the same internal game function that nades use. You feed in position, range, and min/max linear damage and the engine calculates whether or not you got hit and by how much. I can do nothing else to affect that. Right now the numbers match C4. However since the speed of the car is double the default... by popular demand to make it a more effective defroster... it also makes it that much harder to kill. One of those things the senior admins would have to decide on if they think gameplay would be helped to be a little more in favor of ftag than tdm.
