is the old computer on your network with game installed ? uninstall game, reboot put cod4 in drive when autorun pops up exit it go to windows explorer to the drive where cod4 open folder, right click SETUP.exe then properties then compatibility mode TAB near bottom you see PRIVILEGE LEVEL check the dox Run as Admin then close and hit setup.exe

It didn't recognize there was a disk in the drive Rock, so i had no options to "eject" at all, i had to wait for "my computer" to reload (green loading bar in box at top of screen) now it is working again. then know what you have (hardware), check the firmware of drive and also check for current drivers for MotherBoard @ thier site other problem was disk was dirty and confused OS

oh i just noticed the you said installing game to D drive can't do that for win is default for cd/dvd drive need to upload game in another drive other than D:

first clear out the game from system then put disk in your cd/dvd drive if win7 autorun pop-up comes exit then go windows explorer to your cd/dvd drive where game disk is then highlight Setup.exe right click then select Compatibility TAB then check the Run this compatilblity mode for CHECK BOX select XP sp2 then privilege level check run as admin then apply , close properties window then run the setup
