My first gun was this old 22 and it's still a blast to shoot
That "first gun ever" is the Ruger Single Six, in the red bag is a cylinder for shooting the .22 magnum rimfire. It was also my first pistol.
A little history, it had some questionable safety issues and Ruger offered free alterations. I sent mine in and had the transfer bar work done. Worked like crap. I took out the transfer bar and went back to original configuration. I think all newer models already have the transfer bar installed. It's a small piece of metal that you can see slide up over the firing pin when cocking the hammer.
Ruger still offers a free fix if wanted....... I would not.

Thanks for the info Hagar - that's cool our first pistols were the same. I didn't know there were any safety issues and haven't shot my big toe off yet so I'm leaving it just the way it is.
Not to change the subject but thought this might interest some of you..... The Knights of Columbus here is having a raffle and I can't see anywhere that you have to live in Wyoming to enter. It's a "Gun a Week" raffle, they draw for a different gun every week for 52 weeks and the tickets are
50 bucks. Here's a link with the list of guns and a way to enter if you're interested.
