I have made a lot of different beer. The wheat bear is a good choice, it is usually a little cloudy. The alchol content can be controlled by how much sugar you use. I prefer the medium malt sugar. I always made mine pretty strong.
Good luck, it can be a fun hobby. I was told if you can make soup then beer would be easy. And it is. Just takes some pratice and you will get how you like it. Wine is the same way but a whole lot easier. Also I let my beer age to 6 - 8 weeks, it mellowed it out a little bit.
You can also buy the kit in a can. It has all of the hops and flavor already to go, just mix with whatever sugar and yeast, let it ferment, transfer to a carboy and wait until the bubbles stop then transfer to a bottling bucket. Works simple and great. For $25 + sugar cost, you can get about 5 or 6 gallons. There are literally hundreds of different kinds.
Have fun and enjoy.
