I'm wanting to backup my profile on cod4, but can't find the folder where the profiles are stored...I know it's C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Players\Profiles , but when I go do the COD4 folder, there is no players folder...

Help?

Thanks =]

Make sure you have it set to Show Hidden Files in folder views.

If your running with UAC on then it will be in: UserName/AppData/Local/Activision/Call of Duty 4.If your running with UAC off then it will be in the standard location where you were looking.

I am running windows 7 pro 64bit with UAC on.  Location for the CoD4 players folder is here:

C:\Users\#Username#\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare

For 32bit, same as above but just as "Program Files" without the (x86).

With UAC off, it is as Gump pointed out.

I created myself a small utility program to backup and restore my CoD4 and WaW profiles which has come in handy already when I had to reinstall everything to a new drive.  Always good to keep a backup.

Maybe this could be a handy feature to add to the downloader ?

After all, it already knows where your profile data is stored from your settings

Thoughts anyone?

Yes it is, with UAC turned on, the program files folder is a protected folder, meaning that no software can write to the program files folder unless it is running with Admin rights, because you have installed on a different drive than your OS, the folder it has installed to is not protected by UAC

I think it would be a good addition to the downloader Ph4nt0m.  Like you said, you are already saving the settings info if someone is installing other than the OS drive and this information is key as profile locations are different if one is not using UAC and/or installed other than the OS drive.  A single program to update maps as well as backup and restore user profiles would be handy.  If you guys do look at the feasibility of this, I would also include settings to allow for user specified backup locations.

Do you mean allowing the user to choose the location to backup from? or the location to save the backed up files/folder to?

Allow user to choose backup location to save to.  For myself, my game is installed on the OS drive (C:) and with my simple program, I save a backup of the profile to my d drive.
