This gun has a Panther Arms (DPMS) Lower, VLTOR stock, Timiney Trigger and the AR 57 Upper. For those that do not know only the Lower section of an AR is registered. You can than buy various uppers and stocks to mix and match as you like. If the upper barrel length is short and it comes under pistol rules and regulations other laws apply and a short upper can only be matched to the specifically registered lower. You cannot swap short uppers to other AR lowers, only the one that is registered under pistol rules and regulations. Below are web based photos of the upper and the my photo of the assembled rifle. I do have a similar setup that is registered as a pistol. AR's are awesome guns with which to tinker. I can also see I need to take a better pic than the one shown. BTW the caliber is 5.7 X 28 MM............... shame on me I had to go look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.7x28mm

I keep two of them at my house in the Pocono Mtns. in PA. My Grandsons and I have spent many hours and lots of BB's just "plinkin". That's my oldest Grandson, Matt, just before he graduated to shooting a single shot .22. Safe & Slow with a heavy dose of Safety are the words of the day.

I had a great collection going but then I had to sell about a third to pay bills. I always wanted a AR-57 but I doubt that I will ever get one now. In most states long guns or shotguns are not registered, only pistols. When a dealer calls in for a background check, he is only mentioning the type of weapon, shotgun, long gun or pistol. There is no actual serial numbers involved. A lot of people think that when they fill out the yellow paper that the gun is being registered, but no it isn't. There is a mention of serial numbers when the dealer has to give the government his reports, but that is not a formal registration process. That is just to account for the disposition of the gun. If you get a gun from a private party either at a gun show or wear ever then there is no peper trail at all. I know that you have your C&R and on your bound book you have to list whom you sold what to and where you got any C&R weapons, but if I buy a C&R gun at a gun show I just put down gun show. If I sell a C&R gun then you have to put down who you sold it to if you have that info. So there is a lot of loop holes involving gun registration. I would say that at least 75% of the guns sold have little or no paper trail. Awards
