Thinking about building a pool in the yard.  I have avoided this day for years.  Anyone have experience with this?  Any advice in what to look for, amount of rebar, costs for various things, etc. etc. ??

1st get aot of beer and don't pee for a long time

2 nd go pee in back yard and make a huge hole (american beer would be about 20 bucks)

3rd stand in hole and have a giant wet concrete snowbal fight

4th let the garden hose run all night to make a longlasting pool of fun.

No need to thank me its just what I do. OH never never invite holmes on holmes over for a beer.

If your talking inground, dnt even think about tackling it yourself. My cousin installs them and it it labour intensive and a lot of little tricks to it.  Get a profesional installation.  Its costly but without the headaches. Just my opinion.   Or you can go to your local walmart and pick up the 13 dollar plastic one.lol

You want to put an in-ground pool in Houston? Are you crazy. you will need alot of heavy equipment for that. My folks had one installed in Plano and they actually had to blast the ground cause of the solid rock formations in the ground. But if you do decide to do it your self I might have to come down there and get pics of it so everyone knows what an Idiot can do.

LMAO....noooo, ya'll misunderstood me.  I am not doing this myself!  I am an Idiot, not a Moron!  Anyway, yeah...we have more clay in the ground here than rock, so that shouldn't be an issue.  I am more concerned about hitting water during the dig.

Anyway, I was thinking that I need to know what kinds of questions to ask the pool contractor.  Ha, me build a pool?  That would be funny as shit!

Make sure to get recommendations from past customers that you can contact. If they are a good contractor then they will have no problem giving you some customers to get a recommendation from. Find out how long they have been in business. Check the BBB and see if they have any negative complaints against them and also ask to see a portfolio of past projects. Most reputable contractors will give up all the requested info with no problem. If they balk at any of those, I'd walk away on the spot.

As far as pricing, you can be looking from anywhere starting at $12,000-to sky's the limit. Just depends on what shape, depth, and features you'd like in it.

Gonna be a long summer, I might have to drive down there with some beer and relax by your new pool.

Does anyone in your neighborhood have one? You could ask them before you pay for a test hole, or maybe the town engineer will know the height of the water table for your area. I put up a 21' round pool, as in-grounds will lower resale on houses in my area. Some people don't want to be bothered.

One thing I do recommend PigDog is to go with the Pebble tech instead of the Gunite surface. Pebble Tech will last a long time. Not sure what their warranty is though. The gunite you will have to redo every 10 years or so. It's a little rough on the feet but you get use to it. I have some pics on FB under good times folder. I can take some better pics and send them your way if you can't see it that good.
