Well  I was messing with my sound config, I got some new headphones and could not get the 3d sound to work. Sure enough crash and the sound loop you mentioned. Do you have it set to 5,7,or 9.1 surround? I set mine back to just stereo in game and in realtek and had no probs.

stereo.nothing fancy.

Well besides the fact your sound is realtek and that is the cause of most of the problems you have seen, You system its not shit it does the job for everything except MW2 where its borderline very borderline and I'm saying that not knowing what prossessor your using. So my guess is your computers maxed out when you crash so there's no room for it to let you know whats going on it just crashes to black. So here's my guess as to what you can try.

Turn everything off when you play everything !

Try to get some ram for it ask in here there's a great bunch of guys from GB playing here.

Try Wiird0 post its here http://www.xtremeidiots.com/fora_topic.asp?tid=15656

If possible get another sound card and turn the MB one  off

Don't know what CPU you using but it has to be better then these CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz / AMD 64 3200+ or better
Last test your dirx out  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/190900

Sorry to say if that doesn't help you your computer can't handle the game would be my next guess somethings heating up and as things get old they just don't do as good as they once did. As for not liking me PFFFFt get in line. Wife doesn't like me and I breath on her at night. Lighten up maybe your not so easy to get along with to. Wink

I never had any trouble with iw3mp on my old computer but this new one has given me nothing but grief.  I'm lucky to get to play two maps in a row.   I've tried all the fixes suggested and have uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice but nothing helps.   headex.gif

Not sure what to do now :(

This ones from Tally over @ COD utilitys

If you are referring to the infamous "iwmp.exe has stopped working" error, then there are several causes for this - (as mentioned) sound problems; User Account Control problems; bad install problems (files corrupt).

1. For User Account Control problems, right click on the COD4 iwmp.exe and click on the "compatability" tab. Make sure you have "run this program as administrator" checked, and also make sure you check "run this program in compatability mode for ... XP SP3".

2. For sound problems, make sure you have all your sound settings correct. Disabling a device which was enabled when you installed COD4 can make the game fall over with an error. Make sure all devices are setup correctly. Also, make sure your sound driver is not corrupt. In fact, any kind of problem with sound will cause COD4 to fall over because it uses Miles sound technology and is wholely dependent on Windows sound setup being correct.

3. For a bad install (and files do get corrupt in game installs from time to time), just reinstall the game. However, this should NOT be the first thing you try. If its another problem, reinstalling will not likely fix the problem because it will still be there after you've reinstalled.

Besides the iw3mp error, my computer started acting weird so I decided just to go ahead and reinstall windows.  When I went to format I kept getting a error and it's a brand new hard drive so all I did was move the sata cable up a notch and then it responded fine.  I reinstalled cod4, did the patches and played last night with no problems.  Yeah back in business :)
