Ok so my son upgraded my firefox for me and I couldn't get it off my machine fast enough.  I sat at my machine and had that feeling when you walk in the front door and the wife has moved all the furniture and you hate it but live with it and count the days before she realizes that it was better the other way, and you move it all back yourself just for her and she appreciates it so much she rewards you.  Laughing

Everything was moved and in all fairness I have spent no time messing with it, I just got rid of it and went back to the previous version. But the previous version will not be supported for security and updates much longer, so I need to consider something else.

So here is my question, are there any other web browsers out there that are great but not tied to the google search engine? Or is there any way to get firefox4 to be more like the previous version with simple settings (not plug-ins)? I would like to avoid IE like the plague and I had assumed Google Crome would be proprietary to their search engine. (I prefer yahoo search engine) or am I wrong on that?

I'm just looking for some suggestions and personal opinions on what you guys use or prefer or deal with or whatever.

I saw tons of complaints on the firefox forums about needing to use plug-ins to change it back to previous visuals and the plugin were using up tons of ram, causing lag and lots of errors etc.  Have you experienced any problems with that? Machine performance is my priority.

I like to do my searching from the address bar (its faster for me), does chrome let you change the browser address bar search function like firefox does? Or would I be stuck with google?

Sorry for the extra questions guys, I'm just tryin to keep my machine my way if possible, and figured who better to ask than you guys, so I'm considering everything Smile

I will go ahead and download chrome and check it out though, I'd like to know more about people using firefox4 before I revert the version again though.

Common change adult change issue ;P Took me a couple months to get my parents use to Chrome instead of molasses slow IE8/9.

Just keep using it and you will get use to it man. Humans are not positive to change, but that doesnt always make the change bad. :P

If you really cant get use to it then just get chrome man, I've never been a fan of any other browser since Chrome is open source and has a lot of good plugins, everythings one click and done. And everything complex works like it should. (I made my facebook to ALWAYS use HTTPS on everything) I also have HTTPS encrypted google searches. And twitter. :}

The government wont get to ya if you use chrome!
