I have the same pic Shamu.. I found that memorial just as stirring or more so than the WW2 and Vietnam memorial.. If anyone has a chance to visit the mall in Washington DC.. I stress them to go.. My wife and myself truly enjoyed it.

I have yet to visit any of the memorials in DC. Something I need to add to my bucket list.

I was just there not to long ago. It is a very somber memorial to those who were there.

My grandad carried a peice from Korea in his leg till the day he died. A small peice of hand granade just above his ankle.

I've heard very few stories from it, he just didn't tell much about it.

The great story I have to share is when my wife took this pic of me on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial... A elderly Black security guard came up to and asked I knew where I was standing besides on the steps. He then asked my wife for her water and he spilled if on the marble we were standing to expose a Inscription on the stone... It was the spot where Martin Luther King gave his famous "I have a dream" speach in 1963.... Was an awesome moment for my wife & I...

I have been one lucky SOB, I went into the service a little after high school, Nov. 1961, I was out in Nov. 1964 just when Nam was warming up.

I had great duty and got to travel much more than most Army personnel.

Many of my high school friends and team mates procrastinated, got drafted well after I had joined and wound up in Nam. I am sorry to say two were lost. A visit to The Wall would be very emotional for me but is something I need to do.

I hold a great respect for all our Veterans.
