I found out a couple of months ago that my sister has early onset dementia. She refused to eat and at 5'8" weighs about 85 pounds. She is literally skin and bones. She has other health issues and her doctor has said that she may only have a few weeks left to live; I truly hope he is wrong and she gets better but it's doubtful.

I love my sister. Although she is 20 years older than me, we are close. My oldest brother died on Jan 1 of this year and while he was my brother, I didn't really know him. I know my sister, DD (Anne is her real name, we just call her DD), when she goes it's going to be beyond hard.

If you pray, please say one for her. If you don't, please just spare a thought that she will recover.

below are some photos of her. she hasn't let anyone photograph her in the last few years as she is embarrassed by her extreme thinness.

At 16 years.

Christmas 2005: after Hurricane Katrina she began losing weight and having severe health issues. This was a good day.

Notice the Mardi Gras shirt on Christmas eve.

Thank you Spears.

My sister will be 70 next November, yet the other night she started crying and calling out for our mother who died in 1983. My niece, who is a year younger than I am, was there and ran into her room to check on her. My sister said not to cry, then started singing "don't cry for me Argentina".  This is extremely unlike my sister. She has basically lost her mind. She does have some lucid periods, but they are short and few now. My poor sister.

I understand that death is inevitable, and am trying not to fall into another deep depression (my mental disorders are severe depression and panic attacks). So I'll be in the servers a lot this weekend just trying to stay positive. I will probably talk too much and sing and flirt... these things make me feel better somehow. Please understand that when I'm like that it's a coping mechanism. I'm forcing myself to not be depressed. If I annoy anyone by talking/singing too much, just say the word. (when i sing on the mic it's because pressing the talk key in game has become a habit... muscle memory, and I don't do it intentionally. Just let me know if it happens and I'll mute myself. Please don't mute me, though, because I do give good intel and really want converse with y'all. Basically, I'm alone almost 24/7; y'all are the ppl I talk with the most. Y'all are my friends and the only ones I have told about my sister other than my son.

EDIT: I just called her and she was lucid. She is extremely private about her health and refuses to talk about it. I'm not even sure she knows/remembers that she's ill.

Prayers with you and your family.

I have had some tough losses in my family (multiple sadly) but have also had some close ones that turned around as well so I can understand how you feel. It's def not easy :(

Just keep your head up though. Anything is possible in life and things can still turn around regardless of what any Dr says or thinks and at the end of the day the one above will always be listening, watching and here for you and her, no matter the outcome.
