Hey I'm trying to build a budget rig but I'm kind of hardware stupid. Could someone possibly show me a few examples of individual parts off of new egg? My budget is 400+\- I'm not looking for totally badass but maybe just something to get cod 4 back up and flowing. Thanks for any help :)

There are so many angles you can go with a new rig these days.  It all depends on what you want to do on it mostly.  Games,  video/photo editing, (pron)  etc.  With most mid level cpus will handle just about any game out there and with a decent video card will get you playable frame rates with mid levels of graphics. If eye candy is what you want then in my opinion spend the bulk of your money on the best video card you can afford.  With that being said also.  AMD will give you the most bang for your buck in my opinion again.  Yes most Intes chips will blow even the most expensive AMD chips out of the water.  But if twice the cpu speed doesn't give you but 5 to 10 fps then its is not worth the cost.  Also make sure you get a power supply that is quality.  There are some really cheap power supplies that come on the build it yourself kits that are junk even if it says 1400w on the sticker.  I myself bought a amd fx-8120 16 gig ram and a 6950 videocard and a gigabyte 970 mobo.  All but the video card were a steal in my opinion.  I don't have any problem running anything. Here are a few sites to get you started.  I sure many people will have better info than me.  Best of luck.  I'll be glad to help any way I can.

I agree for tight budgets AMD is the way to go. That said, you should build something that will last you for awhile. If you upgrade every year then you end up spending the same amount of money really. You could spend 300 bucks for a higher end video card now, or you can spend 150 now for a lower end one and 150 later when the higher end one is cheaper. In the end its the same 300 bucks but you wont have the better card until the upgrade. If you dont spend all that much time playing games however I would go for the better cpu.

If was going to do a new build today I'd probably pick a AMD A88x motherboard. It supports DDR3 2133 which is as big plus. With those Intel socket motherboards, only flagship cpu's can handle anything over DDR3 1600. If you are on a budget opt for matx or mitx motherboard, but make sure the case has room a for dual slot graphics card.

Might want to check out the ASUS z97i-Pro vs A88x matx/mitx boards.

Go the that link to cross compare parts. It even weeds out parts that you can't use from the list.
