Hm, with xfire off, and running as admin still makes it crash after 3 seconds of start up ( see the Valve baldy guy) it gives me no error codes or nothing, just crashes back to desktop.

You may need to re-install it if all else fails!

Nisty I can try and help you. There is a program called team viewer. It will allow me to control your computer from mine. Then I can compare your setup to mine cause I have that game as well. Let me know if you are up for that.

Try this:

1)Navigate to your windows folder (usually c:/windows/)
2)Inside there, goto the CSC folder
3)Try to open the folder and it should fail (if it doesn't, you have a different problem). It'll come up with 'You don't currently have permission to access this folder' at which time you keep pressing continue until it says you've been denied.
4)Right-click the folder, go to properties.
5)Go to the security tab at which point it'll say 'To continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties' at which point you click continue.
6)Click on admin in the owner tab which will swap the owner to the administrator then click OK.
7)You then click on OK once again which will bring up the security tab.
8)Tick 'full control', press OK twice to get out of the properties tabs.
9)Run the game.

If all else fails, uninstall, delete local content, and reinstall.

Tried that, didnt work.. I also tried this:

Crash Without Error.

Potential fix for crashes all together : Link

Thanks to : Bishop7

A lot of players are now getting a crash at random without an error message.

Possible fix : put -lv in your game runpath. Warning! This removes all the gore out of the game. Note, this does not solve the issue all together.

Possible fix 2 :

1. Close Steam if running

2. Go to your Steam\Steamapps folder

3. Delete left 4 dead 2 client.ncf

4. Delete client.dll from your steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\bin folder

5. Start Steam

6. Right click on L4D2 and validate the game

7. After validation is complete, right click on the game and choose Install

8. Let it redownload the file and install it properly

Credit goes out to : atrpunk08

Solved by valve : Unconfirmed.

But I dont even have the client.ncf nor the client.dll  anymore..... So couldn't do that..

No. I guess it has to do with Xfire... I tried it before, must have had some message screens open still or something..

It works okay with xfire off.. So let's hope it stays that way!

Thanks all for helping out! <3
