I have some demijohns in the cellar and my grape juice and yeast is arriving today. In 3-4 weeks I will have some Shiraz homebrew ready for drinking! Woot woot!

we used otmake our own wine too but we gave it up as it was just too much work , we did get some nice ice wine and other wines out of it tho that we still haven't opened

It's ready after 4 weeks of fermenting, but can be left to mature if preferred.

 

The stuff you get from the supermarket is usually pretty new. Never had Sammy down as a bloody connoisseur! Lol

4 week old wine?

 

That's about the average age of most wines you buy at the store, unless you do some research and pay attention to the vintage date. Some wines are great just after bottling while others need years to mature in barrels. It all depends on your taste and the type.

Cabs, no later than 2012 these days. I dont have to be a connoisseur to know the difference between a good wine and two buck chuck. :lol:

Which is fine when you are buying it! When you make your own, you don't want to wait 5 years to drink it. You cheat and put oak chippings in it rather in g than letting it sit in an oak barrel for 5 years.

ive made  apple cider hooch but what kind of grape juice?and will it be dry or sweet.the apple hooch was always dry

Shiraz grapes so its a fruity red. Blackcurrant and cherry hints. :)
