Seen a WD 2TB cloud device that looks like it will do what we want. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00FOKN7FG/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1438290784&sr=8-8&pi=SL75&keywords=nas+storage Needs to be a media hub and back up device. All help is greatly appreciated. Edited July 30, 2015 by Blaze Awards

This is a Diskless inclosure so drives are separate. http://www.amazon.com/Synology-DiskStation-Diskless-Network-Attached/dp/B005YW7OLM And some 3T drives. http://www.amazon.com/Red-3TB-NAS-Hard-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M/ref=pd_sim_147_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0QYHFM7T1SX0V0AJYGHA I have this one.. this is Buffalo Linkstation Diskless inclosure. Drives are separate but you can bundle one with drives in it. I have Two 3T drives. It has a FTP server, DLNA, iTunes server, BitTorrent client.. which is cool. Permissions, user accounts.... groups and more. But I think the Synology is better. http://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-LinkStation-Enclosure-Performance-LS421DE/dp/B00CO0DE0W/ref=sr_1_sc_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438293193&sr=1-2-spell&keywords=buffalow+linkstation+diskliessThese both sit on your network rather hook direct to your PC making is so everyone can use it. I'm not sure the wife would be convinced at the expense of those plus the hard drives when the WD one is 2TB (which should be enough to back up my PC, 2 phones, 3 tablets and a laptop). It would hook straight into my router so would be available on the network to all and with a login from afar. hxtr 1 Awards

What make the NAS nice if one drive dies.. you have a mirror of it. Good luck!

I really like mine. I have a drive mapped but it is not all ways connected till I access it.Can use the Nova Backup that comes with it or copy data manually. You can have sperate folders with different permissions per user or group so you can prevent someone from deleted you music while allowing access. You have it turn off and on at a certain time of day to save power which it uses very little. Has Gigabit speeds.. have USB ports to add an external if needed. Just a cool device that I wish I had back in the 90's.

Going to have to port forward to get web access to work I think though. I have been really struggling to find an all in one total android backup software, but it looks like I'm going to need to use at least two apps to back everything up. Titanium backup for app data and settings and filesync for everything else. hxtr 1 Awards

(You have to separately buy hard drives to put in the station) You can download a cloud app for your pc which works a bit like dropbox. It has photo album sharing features, apps for downloading (if your into movies with torrents or NZB), videos, music, cloud station, hosting web pages, a package manager app for installing and downloading additional apps and many more things. It has lots of available apps for Windows, OSX, iOS and Andriod. It also has a desktop-like web page to upload/download/use apps: Edited August 2, 2015 by Tim hxtr 1 Awards

Got to love Amazon. The Unit also has a built in FTP server. No need to forward a port for outside access.. just use in house. But you can get an FTP client for your phone and backup manually as well. Very handy when I have a picture I just took and I pull up FTP in and drop a file on my NAS.. get to my computer.. then do what I want with it.Well hope you like it. Sweet Home!, it automatically backs up new content to the nas drive as soon as you connect to your home network. As for PC, I bit the bullet and purchased acronis True Image (at a reduced price after buying my WD Black HDD for my PC) so the PC backups are all sorted to.Decided to use the standard RAID system so I would have to have both drives fail to lose anything. Means I have 6TB of disk space with only 3TB usuable....but it's worth it for the extra insurance I guess. Awards

Oh well, True Image has more options and supports porting everything over to a new computer. Awards
