Only survivor after a deer onslaught. I bought a sleeve of Maples & Jack Pines from the Arbor society, planted them all over the property, and the deer promptly chomped them off. This sweetie was bitten too, but I caged it, and can't believe it manged to grow straight afterwards.

Planted a lot of cedars, our deer don't bother them at all. Too bad I don't like them that much, but they make nice borders. Beavers are down the hill on Spring Creek, they don't make their way up....thank goodness.

trees are amazing for took down a top dead maple tree (30ft with 4ft wide trunk) for was dropping limbs on roof of home, had split from a wind storm.  Cutted 1 foot sections to ground and left them on ashphat driveway, one cut section like a hockey puck it was sitting in water and it started to grow branch with leaves after a month.

TBB has too many rings to be tender for the kettle. On the right is the only Shag Bark Hickory on the place. Caught it out of the corner of my eye while bulldozing, and left it, and its' playmate Oak. Never thought I'd live to see them mature, but the Hickory put out fruit last year. Sorry about the pix, it's raining this morning. All the trees have turned overnight.

Well done. The deer love the arborvitae at my house.
