I have just read of the magnitude 7 quake that hit Christchurch, New Zealand earlier.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/australiaandthepacific/newzealand/7981252/New-Zealand-7.0-earthquake-reduces-buildings-to-rubble-in-Christchurch.html

This is where our buddy NITRO lives so I'm hoping he and his family and friends are OK.

Though some buildings have been destroyed and there are injuries, there is no mention of any fatalities at the moment.

Once power and phones have been restored, hopefully we'll hear from him.

[in recent years, we've experienced two quakes here in the SE UK (believe it or not!!!) but the stronger first one that knocked out power and phones

and shook us all up a little was less than a 5.]

Hope everything is alright!

We just had a little 4.0 yesterday....that just gets the dogs barking around here.

I remember every second of the 89' quake clear as a bell. It was 7.2....I was in a delivery truck at a stop sign in a dense neighborhood, and what tripped me out was.....every single person in every single house ran out in the street in about 3 seconds....1sec the street was empty...the next second there was thousands....they could of staged and rehearsed that a 100 times...and not get outside that fast!  and 45min before the quake...I was on the Cypress freeway, and thats where the majority of the casualties happend when it collapsed!

Hope NITRO's ok, powers expected to be back on to 90% of the City by somtime tonight. but the temp is expeced to go down to around -2°C to night and a storm is on the way. It is a miracle that no one has been killed and only a few serious injurys.

Hey team! I didnt know this thread was going i feel so loved! Laughing Everything ok here, we have our power and water back on in our neibourhood now although others are still without. We also had something in our water making people sick but they got that sorted too. I think we are on our 7th day and still getting good after shocks in the 5's, i think we are up to about 140+ aftershocks since the main event, experts are saying we are halfway through our expected aftershock time frame however just the other day they realised most of the new aftershocks are from an unrelated fault line from the main one so thats kinda interesting. The city is a mess and alot of people loosing their homes and busineses which is sad but no fatalities which is amazing. They say from past data that in most cases there will be an aftershock one magnitude less than the main earthquake so we still waiting for that one. It will be a while till our city is back to normal but we will get there. Thanks to all for your concern mother nature will have to try harder than that to take me out! Im >XI< tough baby! LOL. See u in the servers! Laughing
