Yes, you are correct this is an issue, healthcare providers acknowledge this and we trying to do better. Where do you think your stats come from? Studies have shown that proper education and training of health care workers increases compliance with and adoption of best practices (e.g., infection control, hand hygiene, attention to safety culture, and antibiotic stewardship) to prevent HAIs. Where is your statement about antibiotic resistant pathogens that are sweeping through healthcare? What about the stats for HAIs in all nations including third world countries or that healthcare has improved dramatically in this situation.
I have no problem admitting we can do better, god knows we can all do better. If your point was to throw a grenade in the situation then great, well done.
Note: Your stats are correct and sadly all those patients deserved better, but it wasn’t from a lack of trying to do right thing. We just need to do better because lives are on the line.
