  1. I have read the article and I agree there was several things that could have and should have been done. In the early stages of these virus, most of us in healthcare were trying to come to terms with how to deal and treat this. Its been chaotic and stressful at times believe me. The article you quotes mentions that this was a worse case scenario, sadly that doesnt help those who got sick and died. As a healthcare provider, I can say without a doubt that we do our best and our priority is the care of patients. Sometimes we fall short but we are willing to put ourselves in harms way if needed to save others. I can not say that with anymore sincerity. Now that I have that way. As for your statement. Your level of "Monday morning quarterbacking" is not useful and yes unproductive. Like any profession, we in healthcare are open to constructive criticism which you havent given at all. I have heard you bitch and moan about healthcare providers twice in two different states and you profess to not rippin on doctors? This is huge crisis! We are managing something that we have never seen in our lifetime. If you do not have constructive things to say with your complaining, then I suggest you take it outside or better yet, join me in the hospital, dawn on PPE that covers you from head to toe and make a difference. God knows we can do with the help! If not, grow a set of balls and shut the hell up. Now isnt the time to bitch and do nothing, Im all open to that later but now we assistance. Sorry for the rants guys, just stressed out. Pete (Ter)
  2. Hey, please dont go ripping on the doctors and the front line workers. They (WE) are the ones putting themselves at risk every day to save lives.
  3. Question? Why do you have a gun in that video! hahahahaha
  4. Try this, a toilet paper hoarder. https://www.ebaumsworld.com/videos/couple-buy-dollar-stores-entire-stock-of-toilet-paper-leaving-none-for-others/86228945/
  5. Interesting article, thanks.
  6. Im confused, are you just trying to be funny or are you serious?
  7. Hey Sammy, I think you maybe over estimating that this is a yearly event, though I admit it’s has happened more often of late. But let me pose to you. We live in a much more urban society specially in the past 20 years. What took distance to spread in the 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak is now literally feet. The rate of spread is a lot easier these days. Also, outbreaks such as these were primarily geographical. Travel was limited then while in today jet age, travel across nations is merely hours away. My thoughts are as always to error on precaution and safety.
  8. Then please explain what is the alternative when it comes to public safety? If a tsunami was on its way, would you suggest I get my board and shoot those taste waves. I’m referring to public health, not the silly hoarding bit.. that’s ridiculous.
  9. Please tell me a few of you are NOT in healthcare?
  10. Convid-19 is very similar to SARS in that both are Coronaviruses. SARS had a higher mortality rate but didn’t have the “fitness to persist in the human population,” which eventually led to its demise. Also SARS had symptoms that were severe and therefore easier to identify and contain. What makes Convid-19 so unique and potentially deadly is that so many people had mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and therefore don’t see a doctor and are largely unaccounted for. The rate of spread can potentially be a lot more higher. N1H1 as Sparty mentioned had a reasonably large rate of spread, though the mortality rate was marginally higher than the regular flu. The reasoning was it effected the population more under age of 60. One third of the population over 60 already had antigens to combat this flu, and with a younger and stronger patient-base the mortality rate remained low. I have heard the term "senior killer" with this virus and the stats seem to prove this unfortunately. The early mortality rate for anyone over age 70 is around 10 percent. In the end, all these pandemics are unique in that they effect the population differently. Yes, in hind site some seem minor but eventually we will have one similar to the 1918 Spanish Flu. My thoughts are do what you can to minimize the effect.
  11. I hear several people are selling TP on this forum?
  12. So your telling me your selling toilet paper? I’m kidding.
  13. There is no way your going convince anyone who doesn’t wish to look at the facts or stats surrounding this. Yes, there were several near misses in the past but I bet there are plenty of people in 1918 who said, it’s just a cough, don’t worry about it...
  14. Hey Sharpe Thank you for your insight for your correct in that most in the medical field are profoundly concerned. The outcome for some has been and will be tragic indeed.
  15. Maybe it’s me but is it completely bad form to be talking about making money off heels of a pandemic? Please, create a different forum for that talk, it’s nauseating.
  16. My thoughts, as someone in Healthcare? error the side of caution. Most countries are making well targeted and measured responses to the situation. If someone ask you, you had a 3-4 percent chance of succumbing to a serious illness within weeks, would you brush it off? Ask that of the 4000 soon to be 5000 who lost loved ones to this (within 12 weeks). I’m not saying we should go all chicken little but be diligent about yourself and your loved ones until this ends. The alternative seems very final.
  17. Hey Ron, if you and your wife are in good health you should be fine. I realize your living in a hot spot, my wife’s family are reasonably close as well. I do feel for you buddy. There is only one confirmed case in my province and I found out that person worked at a bank 100 steps from my medical centre. She worked at the bank for a week prior to being quarantined. Now that wouldn’t seem to bad but I work in healthcare and see numerous patients in that area, plus my wife who has leukemia is incredibly nervous of that situation and my proximity. Best to stay calm and make sure you do what we each can to reduce the spread of this.
  18. Good grief, Your an admin! I respect that you don’t want this political as you mentioned to Ghost but leave it at that. You loose any credibility when you pick one side (as you have shown prior to) than the other. As someone in healthcare for 30 years, this is serious. The numbers Harry mentioned are real and as the potential of this to spread is high. Everyone just needs to be diligent about the small things right now.
  19. BACON!
  20. Good Evening Ladies, we are discussion right now and we will have a name appropriate to whom Mac was and Im sure he would have approved. Pete
  21. This is an awesome post and looks like fun. I have been a musician for years and typically play acoustic or electric. I do play bass though I have to admit, I chose a tough bass to master (Hofner). I also can play some piano as well.
  22. I am saddened to hear the lose of Johnny. He was one of those characters that made you laugh or shake your head. Regardless what it was, Johnny always had something to say and colorful as he was, he always made you smile. He was an original and will be sadly missed. My thoughts prayers go out to his family and loved ones. Pete (Ter)
