Hey Gang, Hopefully someone who is real familiar with home networking can help me. I have a DSL, which is crappy but usually good for me and burningbright to play at the same time.. as long as the kids are not eating the bandwidth on YouTube or something. Our pings, under usual condition, should be around 40. Lately, we have been experiencing a strange issue. Sometimes it's my computer, sometimes it's hers, but one of our pings will be about double what the others is. I've been trying to figure out whats going on, and it seems it's our router/network.. not just crappy DSL. When I look at my network map, it's shows 'Bama pc' ------ 'gateway' --------- 'internet'. When I look at BeBe's network map, it shows 'BeBe pc' ------- 'unknown device (with a question mark)' ------- 'Bama PC' ------- 'gateway' ------- 'internet'. Sometimes, the 'unkown device' is replaced with a generic 'switch' and a router icon. Either way, it seems as though her internet traffic is routing through my computer. I can unplug my ethernet cord from my computer, and BeBe still has access.. but her network map will not show. It says something about 'device cannot be found' or something. Her ping is fine when I unplug (or she does, depending on who's having the high ping issue). The network map returns to the same once mine is reconnected. She never loses internet access though. I've reset the modem, reset the router, restarted computers, ensured that we are both in the same workgroup, and the router is set the same. I'm no genius, but I'm pretty handy with windows and networking. I've done most of the normal stuff to try and fix this. I need someone who knows what they are doing!!! We are both running Win 7. We use a Linksys WRT150N wired/wireless router. The two computers I'm talking about are both wired to the router. The router is connected to my DSL modem, which is a motorolla something-or-other. Please help.

This is the BEST freeze tag mod I have ever played. I really enjoyed it. Most others I felt like I was a blind sloth running in molasses, but from the first round I played, I had good mobility and good hit/kill ability. I really enjoy this mod. We had some of the 'keep your gun while frozen' going on with the map that has like castle walls around it that you can run on top of.. with lots of buildings and tunnels underneath (sorry, can't remember the name of the map, I think it is the one before agx_achq). I don't recall anyone getting out of their bubble though. It was odd, because just before the ability to shoot from your bubble happened, we all respawned from the spawn point in the middle of a match.. some of us were frozen before, some not.. and then BLAM, we were all standing in spawn. After that, some of us.. once frozen, could still shoot from our bubbles.

I didn't really like BFBC2, I didn't play it much. I didn't really like Black Ops all that much either, but I played it more than BFBC2. I liked COD WAW ok.. but it was way different than what I was used to in a FPS. I actually like BF3. It's pretty cool. I don't think it will be as good as COD4, because I don't see them opening it up for mods and such.. but it's the best game I've played since COD4 came out. Do you have the ability to rent a copy or play a friends? Even though I like it, I wouldn't want you to drop so many GBP's to find you don't like it.

Hopefully, if you were kicked by an admin, they can let you know here. The deal is... the lowest score, non-member will get kicked to make room for an XI member when the server is full AND the member requests it from an admin. Not sure if that is what happened here.

ruso44thenoob THANK YOU BAMA AND NIGHTRAVEN !!! THANK YOU IT WORKS Good deal!!! And Nightraven, I figured out how to edit it in Win7. It was an administrator issue. Was able to save to desktop, edit, and put it back in folder.. prompted for admin stuff at that point and clicked continue. Little more effort, but works.

FIRST. Make a backup copy of your config_mp file, and save it on your desktop You could edit your config_mp file, which is located in Activision/Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare/players/profile/'yourplayername'. change this line: seta r_mode "800x600" (don't know what it's set to now, but this is base resolution and should work) I have not tried this, but it may work. I'm running Win7 and it won't let me edit the file.. but you should be able to in vista. Use Wordpad or notepad to open the config_mp file. Make sure you uncheck 'always use this program to open files of this type' if it shows up. If that doesn't work, you can just replace the config_mp file with the backup copy. Good Luck

I had to select it is and cut and paste, but I know there is a better way.... For all that asked about 'How can I play'.. it's about the ping, not necessarily the up and down Mb/s. That part does matter, but what I have is plenty of up/down Mb/s to play. What it is NOT is plenty of Mb/s to play and for 2 or 3 other peeps in the house to be checking YouTube and etc. Kills my gaming. I need more bandwidth. For Pigdog: After your test, there is a 'share' or 'share my results' button. Click it. Copy the line that looks like this "http://speedtest.net/result/1709047615.png". Above the reply box in this forum, click the little button with the pic of a tree on it. A pop-up box appears. Paste the line you copied into the 'image url' box and hit 'insert'. (Don't worry, you probably won't see it until you post, but it's there. Ta-Da!!!!!

There were about 20 of us UT guys feeling cocky, and a car with 3 or 4 Bama fans pulled up, and threatened to "kill us" (un-quote) if we didn't take the banner down. We laughed at them & chased them off... but within 5 minutes there were 7 or 8 cars full o' (mostly drunk) Bama fans up there ripping down the sign (they tore it down & actually BURNED it right there on the overpass). So we wisely got the hell out of dodge.... they were *serious* about killing us, lol. The Highway Patrol had to come to break it up. LESSON: do NOT slander Bear Bryant around 'Bama fans - they WILL actually try to kill you Even if the Vols suck these days, glad an SEC school NOT coached by Les Miles won it all. And the Bear was a good coach - even if he did secretly wear panties. For this, you shall be cut many, many times! The all time score is 47 - 38 - 7 Alabama vs Tennessee. 92 total games, and we are just ahead by a bit. A pretty darn good rivalry

He's saying that if you are going to use DDR3 1866 Mhz memory (or above), you have to install an AM3+ cpu.. according to the specs for this mobo. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4001&dl=1#sp Look at second tab 'specifications' under in the memory section. NOTE 2 applies (scroll to the bottom). You see this note: (Note 2) To support a DDR3 1866 MHz (and above) memory, you must install an AMD AM3+ CPU first. So, you either change the cpu you are going to use (blah), or get 1800 Mhz memory or below. Doing a quick search, the only memory I found (OK.. the first one I found) from the QVL for your board was this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231278 You could buy 4 sticks, and it's about the same price as what you were buying.. and it's on the list. You probably can't go wrong with any GSkill sticks 1800 and under, they are good stable memory. You gotta spend some time and read all the fine print.
