  1. Not as badly as Hammer. Who else gets booted out twice in one round for TKing? He's worse than me, and I adopt the "well don't walk there then" position on avoiding friendly fire...
  2. Laptop. TS3 server is available for Windows, and everyone knows how to set up Windows XP so if fecal ventilation occurs, it is easy to get help
  3. Hang on. Even if you have plemium it shows up in the store. Go to your game library and right click bf4. Then find "show game details" and observe you do still have plemium. And can download SA. If it does not show up, exit Origin ( by right clicking the icon in the bottom right corner of your screen by the clock and hitting exit) and start it up again. Origin often fucks up the Library view. It only wants a restart, normally. I have not seen anyone else lose their games from it yet so it would surprise me if that happened to you.
  4. Cod4 is excellent on Lan as is quake3 and unreal tournament. We also play supreme commander on lan and old need for speed titles. And carmageddon but that might be hard to get going now. Gog.com has cheap old classics several of which work on lan; check them out too.
  5. Theres no big boom noise (anymore?) so if youre not looking at it when it goes you just see smoketrails. I flew through the smoke the other day never havinh heard the boat go poof.
  6. So, turns out this does actually bring 40-50 fps boost on a few machines - notably those with AMD chips and videoboards... wow.
  7. I don't know how this will affect Mantle performance on AMD cards, but in Direct3D on both AMD and nVidia card, the prerender frames setting helps make your framerate smoother - at the cost of adding a delay between your actions and on-screen result. If you're already getting a low framerate this settings, which is 3 by default on both AMD and nvidia cards, can inject "mouse lag" into your game - you move your mouse and a notable fraction of a second later, your view moves. Deus EX:HR suffered from this quite badly, as did the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. And System Shock 2. And, really, quite a lot of other direct3D titles. As a result, I would recommend setting this setting to 1 in your driver settings in Windows so it's always 1 for every game. This would overwrite any setting BF4 uses internally and is easy to set back if you don't like the result. Note that pre-rendering is done by the CPU which prepares frames for the GPU to go render. So, lowering this will reduce your CPU load a little. Considering the amount of CPU-use by BF4, you could get a framerate boost by setting this to 1 (default in BF4 is 3 I believe) in addition to ridding the world of a little input lag. It certainly won't give you anywhere near 40-50 fps more on an nvidia card though. If I set max.prerender to 3, I lose maybe 5 fps? That's it. If you're getting 40 more frames out of it you have to wonder what else is wrong there... and then send a ticking letter to DICE for coding that badly Oh, before I forget, there's a famous quote on the internet. -- "No, this makes games run smoother! You need to leave it on 3 or even make it 6!" Some people who read this. If you hear or read the above quote, ignore it. Pre-rendering technically could improve smoothness. It does, in fact. Instead of going from 30 fps to 78 and back to 45 and up to 84 again, it'll be more stable around the average (of 60 in my example). But the game will FEEL sluggish especially when the frame rate goes down, which means you won't be able to play very well. You'll get a smoother experience of death
  8. rush doesnt suit 64p servers unfortunately. It gets too hard to punch through and plant and hold the bombspot. It can be very good hectic play with 30 to 40 players, come try a few rounds on the EU box some time if you like it :-)
  9. It also looks like DICE has, for once, not overdone the nerfs. Usually something that is 5% too strong gets nerfed into uselesness by dice but this looks OK. How it proves to be in-game I dont know. But it has the appearance of competence, which is a nice improvement. Now if someone else would do my job for me I would have time to play this week :-/
  10. Too much talking going on this week, so none of that in my playlist for this weekend. Just some of this: and this and this and this and this And quite emphatically, this guy.
  11. I play DayZ Origins occasionally. If anyone else likes to, I play on this server: 94.23.194.217:3102
  12. On the one hand I am with SOB on it being a little childish to kill for some words while not for others yet maintain that we are an adult clan. On the other hand, I totally agree with Ed that at some point, asking people to behave like adults was making too much work for admins. I have had to ask Smurf, Ed, tsw and Oddjob to tell someone to stop being a little whining foul mouth bitch in BF4 at some point in the recent past. Not, in BF ever over years, JUST in BF4 which has been out for a few months, because it was getting out of hand. And that is just me, certainly there have been plenty of other people asking admins to make someone else chill out. I have to say that having the bad word kill thingy in place has reduced the number of people who go around swearing at others for using some weapon, vehicle or tactic or other. The no-cunt-rule has really cut back on the number of dicks in the server. It is annoying to have it kill you, but it is finger licking good to see some ass get killed by the language filter a few times and then ragequit.
  13. I remember. You're the guy thats says everything three times. :-)
  14. Oh dear, there goes the peace and quiet... I mean, eh, welcome. Of course. And goodbye peace and quiet as well. :-)
  15. We were on top of the "shack" thingy exactly as portrayed inthe video and it worked. It didn't work when I shot the light from an attack boat. I think you must maybe sit on the diagonal tile on the shack to turn on the light? The light wasn't showing all the time, it may have to be on for the boom to happen. Which looked effing epic
  16. I've got a 2GB 770. These are my settings. This runs at around 100 fps most of the time on big open maps, taking dips in Siege and Zavod to the 70-ish mark. At very intense points and/or when I topple Siege's building it may drop below 60 for a little bit in the dense dust clouds. If you have a smaller screen this will easily let you play painlessly and smooth at all times. To add eye candy, consider upping the Lighting Effects to high. Terrain deco, AA and AO are off not just because they lower the frame rate, but also because I can't see well with them on since everything gets blurry. Pretty, but blurred.
  17. Aw man... now I'm going to have to work on Friday morning
  18. EA did that huh. Not Activision, which releases a bug-fest under the COD flag every year. Not Deep Silver, who publish a lot of small-time studio games such as the epic S.T.A.L.K..E.R. series or the once-great X series of space sandboxes. Those were chock full of bugs. I may have mentioned DayZ somewhere earlier. That's STILL nigh on unplayable regardless of mod, computer, drivers or anything else since it's using a just absolutely terrifyingly terrible rubbish engine. Yet all of these games are highly valued by the people that played them, despite the bugs, for being awesome pieces of entertainment. That's all this is. Entertainment. Imperfections and bugs don't make the games bad. It takes more than that.
  19. Keep this up and your age will be as high as your ping in a few centuries... happy birthday Hellkid!
  20. Have you seen the European BF4 crowd? :-)
  21. Gotta love a guy with 123 behind his name.
  22. It speaks! Or writes rather. Haven't seen you do that in game yet. Welcome on here!
