If you have a bona fide good idea for a city because the city is more interesting and has more nice places to go than Nottingham and is easily reached, then please, show some examples and I'm sure everyone will be interested in discussing which town is the better choice. But please don't just start arguing everyone has to come to a city you happen to live near. Some of us are flying in, and a lot are driving a ways. We're not interested in a city just because you live close to it, we want to be able to reach it fairly easily and not need 48 hours to fly back out to civilization afterwards. We need a city that has basic amenities such as a nearby airport or at least good motorway connections to one. Nottingham has proven itself in that respect, if you have an alternative then please, put your post where your heart is and provide something for us to get interested in, rather than just pissing on Edd. I don't mind people pissing on Edd, but it's not going to make anyone change their mind about what city to go to.

I don't know where you idiots went last year, but the year before it we did Nottingham and I quite liked the hotel and town. I'd be perfectly happy going there again.

... why would it make sense to have two fests both in the UK ... less than 2 hours' drive from one another? I mean, I'm pretty insane, but if I lived in one of these I wouldn't even think twice about going to a 2 hour concert in the other, let alone a weekend long party. Either way, my summer vacation plans so far include a trip to Scotland. Nottingham is pretty well on the route and Nottingham was pretty neat last time so I'm def. going to keep room in my calendar for this year's XI Fest. I've never been to old York and according to the internet there's fuck all to do there, but we'll see.

For the record: if a few people are AFK, they still show up as players. People join and the game begins. After one or two rounds there will easily be a dozen or two dozen players in and the few AFKers won't matter.

I'd strongly prefer smallish maps. 10v10 is probably a good start: you won't get 15 XI members in one server at one time and getting them to work together as a team is frankly a laughable idea. Let's start with 10x10. I would, for ten x ten, recommend: CQ-s Guilin Peaks CQ-s Wave Breaker CQ-s Zavod 311 The maps are smaller, infantry themed affairs with a small vehicle complements. Too many vehicles with a 10x10 match just devolve the whole thing into a tank battle.

I'm game if we do this, but those are two very terrible maps and one not very good one so if we actually get ten idiots together for this ("herding cats" is the phrase I believe) there will be an argument about map choices.

I've been practicing really hard and this still isn't set up? Are you going to tell me I smeared teammates all over the scenery every time thy nicked my C4-quad for nothing? You have achieved nothing but to set a nasty tone and grow animosity between yourself and some admins plus whomever isn't on your side of this argument. There's nothing in you opening post that is of any use to anyone who doesn't already know all the facts (because I sure as fuck can't make out what's going on, and considering the quality of this text I don't think it's my blood alcohol level causing that) and the people who already know all the facts just got told they're bad admins in the sort of tone that makes people who know nothing of the facts think you're being something of a twat about whatever it is you wanted. IT's probably best for sales if people stop playing BF4 during summer, so when the winter comes they'll have forgotten the bugs and only remember the fun times. And it's not like anyone is going to be playing Hardline

If you want to setup comms for the scrimm in advance you need a TS admin to create a scrimm channel with subchannels and then have the squad leaders decided before the match so they can set up Whisper keys to talk to the squad leaders from the other squads (one key for all leaders is probably smartest) Next time there is a scrimm someone poke me, if I can make it I will be happy to join in. Playing structured as a team with my squad mates is exactly my kind of gig, be it Arma or BF4. I may be rusty, but I'm still better than nothing

So I've been tinkering with an experimental Arma3 Epoch server, but it's frankly terrible. I went and played on CCG's Overpoch servers for a bit to see if there was some huge thing I'd missed but no, there really is fuck all to do in arma3 epoch/overpoch. Even on busy servers it's essentially coastal deathmatch without zombies. The supposed other natural hazards... well I've heard random footsteps on my empty server, but the supposed super stealth killer thing never did jack shit even when I went for coffee, the headless kamikaze zombies made a decent attempt once - which is how often I've seen them, and the other things are all non existent either. So really, there's nothing to shoot and nothing to worry about other than players, which means you can really just sit in a bush and pretend to be a bit of grass until someone comes by and poke a hole in them. So I'm holing on for Exile. If that turns out to be good I really do want to setup a server for it. But Epoch/Overpoch? No. There's a limit to the amount of tedium I'm willing to sit through.

I done practiced and noticed I've become completely shit at BF4 after nearly a year of not playing so now's the time to get some kicks in before I get good again and my presene on the server becomes it's usual constant flood of multikills and ridiculous explosions.

I would have loved classic mode about a year ago. In fact, the no health regen and no doritos is what made me start playing BF3 HC and then BF4 HC on the XIEU box. I doubt very much we'll be able to fill a Classic mode server. Not because it's not a great mode. The new patch and Classic mode additions make it the game it should have been on release. But... it's not release date now. It's about two years later. People have moved on.

I play DayZ mod a lot, waiting for the SA to come to fruition. When it comes out I'm definitely interested in an XI DayZ server. Preferably one with an Epoch-style base building mod, I think. Would it by the way not be a grand idea to have a XI Steam group? That way we can all just join that and you can instantly see when XI people are playing games you own, and join them.
