This has happened to me a couple of times. If my car (defroster, not sure if it occurs with both) gets disabled by the enemy, while in mid-air, the car gets stuck in a sort of limbo. I have to wait for the car to slowly float down to the ground. Depending on the height, it can take a while and in the meantime, I can't do anything. When it eventually touches the ground, that's when I get the on-screen message that my car has been disabled and I can finally spawn back as my player -

I've had this happen to me a couple times in the past. I think, sometimes, the game just isn't able to read/write into the appropriate folder. Right-clicking and running the game as an administrator has usually worked for me. -
It could also be due to a problem with the PSU. This can help you rule out whether or not the power supply is the issue:

I feel your pain. I've had tea spilled on me a couple times by the good ol' faithful companions. But hey, at least with tea, you can reuse the bag for yet another cup. Just gotta make sure you don't bring in some fur along with it into the cup...not sure if that'd taste good...well, at least I don't want to find out if it does I thought the same thing! LOL

I hope all goes well for you. Stay strong!
