  4. You mean deathstreak? Hmm. Heard it yesterday on the server. Or was it the day before. I get a lot of those. However, sometimes there may be sound conflicts with too many at the same time so those with less priority have to be dropped.
  5. True, afaik basic optical sights were around in ww1 but not very common. At least I think I read that. But I am sure no zoom. Gamers like their zoom. They are common in terms of helpers. Could be guided missiles, from aircraft or otherwise. Could be thermal sights. Imagine cod5, or a BF variant, but with even less tech. That doesnt mean it wont be fun. Just means there is a large audience that wont play anything but modern or post modern. Actually, a more interesting variant would be a steampunk version of the game.
  6. Tried it with an existing sound with the proper settings for this kind of thing and that sound worked. So in the future, if I find a good 'respawn' dialog I like, I will add it with the correct settings. I assume that will work as well. Any ideas on sounds to check out let me know. I prefer sounds from one of the other cods. I may or may not have them but something to consider.
  7. I guess thats part of the audience they are taking a chance with. Iron sights only, not including snipers, would certainly separate the men from the boys however. Maybe even the boys from the foul mouthed kiddies. Who knows. Maybe said boys and kiddies that refuse to play without their electronic sight crutches or guided missiles will stay away and adults will be the only real audience. That alone would make it worth it.
  8. Have to give them credit for trying something new. Lets not forget that WW1 was no less brutal than many other wars. Tho I doubt there were dogfights in canyons.
  9. I think its both a timing issue in terms of location as well as when health reaches 100 percent. Likely I did something when I had to use the more complex health system for things like venom, second chance and health packs. I did a quick test for 'move in' and it required a little bit of a workaround because of the same kind of problem. There is a built in delay between sending the command to move position and when the game actually does it. Two server frames (0.1 seconds for the sound to work at the correct location). The proper way to do it is the sound settings when making up the sound itself so it works like announcements or ticking timebombs. I think. That will require a partial mod rebuild and its not ready for that until I am sure all script updates are complete and without issues. Maybe there is a short 'fight' type voice from one of the other cod games meant to be used on respawn and not match start?
  10. I dont remember that. If it was like that before I probably just changed something around to fix some other problem. Will see what I can do. Is there any other existing sound that might work better as a voice notification? Something short along the lines of the 'take no prisoners' or 'lets do this' dialogs at the beginning of the match? But shame on you for playing games when you are supposed to be working.

  12. Thanks for the suggestions. I remember the names of all of those but cannot recall what all of them are. rd3 is another. But its a pretty big map. edit: Yup I see a few good suggestions there. However a few are also not compatible with the mod due to 'out of memory' errors. Often many big maps just have too much in the way of complex terrain that take up a lot of memory. That or also some complex custom models. Or I should say, the max memory the game engine can handle for something designed in 2007.
  13. Trees are good for the environment. They are also good because the enemy can sneak up on you and go "boo!" if you arent careful. Not everything has to take place in the desert or grass. "Sorry sarge, theres too many trees here. Lets go fight somewhere else." SMACK!!!!
  14. Is that the one where one side all spawns inside of the building? If so thats a map problem because it only includes a single spawn. Likely for TDM or other non-ftag games where you cant get stuck in it. However, I am pretty sure at one time an addition was included in the mod that moved that spawn point outside after the map was loaded. So it would balance out both sides with everybody spawning in the open. In any case, a map I was messing around with for a best of 5 victory requirement is agx contra. A nicely done map but certainly large and not so much CQ but could work for a short match.

  17. Forgot to add to above.... One of the maps I was asked about was monastery. If its the one I have here, its big and its dark. So not in tune with the kind of mayhem seen in the typical rotation maps. But could be one of the maps that the above scenario (best 3 out of 5) would work well with. Something out of the mainstream.... since 'mainstream' seems to be a bad thing these days... that would be fun in smaller doses.
  18. Ok everyone. Small addition to the above. The first map in the current rotation is now Breakout v2. However the number of rounds is best 3 out of 5. Not the standard 5 out of 9 for all other maps. That means, at worst with 5 full rounds + overtime and time limit expired, it will take 40 minutes. For the future, this can be a consideration for including a new map here and there that would always go the full 9 rounds and take forever to complete without it being very much fun. Short periods of different kinds of maps for variety but not so much as to be boring.

  21. Probably less because everyone would throw grenade spam. Which is what people did on those 30-player matches. iirc it didnt have spawn protection. But I suppose it would be fun to see just for shits and giggles. edit: This would be mayhem. Throw in spawn protection with invisible players running around and who knows. Oh and dont forget... three streaks.
  22. A thought.... If you get hit with a stun grenade you are limited to cod4 default style jumping and speed for 30 seconds. Meaning speed and jumping as it was meant to be. Those of you that actually still play cod4 with standard settings know what I am talking about. Let all the 'hell no' comments begin.
  23. If it aint broke dont fix it. Win10 does have a few things Win7 doesnt that I would like to have but not yet.
  24. Interesting tho. Maybe both IW and Treyarch are getting into the modding scene again like they did with cod4 and 5. Now that would be news.
  25. Yea those are basically UT style arena maps. But the most chaotic map I have ever seen in cod4 was 30 players in Shipment. Wont work for ftag tho because of the need to defrost. Unless........ Thrown into the ftag rotation mix are a few maps with 10-15 minutes of TDM.
