  1. Never had the pleasure. But used 98 alot obviously.
  2. I still have all my Win2000 stuff packed in a box. One of the best OS's I ever had.
  3. That was the scuttlebutt. They tried it internally and yea the PC players kicked their asses. But it was never officially confirmed.
  4. iirc windows will only install on C.
  5. I doubt I will ever upgrade from Win7. But I said the same thing about XP when Vista came out. We shall see if MS follows the pattern of even numbered OS's sucking but the odd numbered ones being great.
  6. I remember there were problems with cod4/5 on Win8 when it came out. I dont know if they ever found the cause. I think PB was suspected. If you are into conspiracies then Activision could have worked with MS to finally kill those two games off. I say that because they tried to do it again with the server browser. And then again with PB support. I cant believe the whole 'money' argument considering the billions they make every single year. They are certainly not hurting for money. Dont forget they shitcanned the two people that headed the game developers under some very specious reasons. They never provided a workaround for ending PB support or even talked about it. We had to figure it out for ourselves and are damn lucky it worked. For now.
  7. Likely not. dx9 didnt make dx8 games look any better. Except those games that already had support built in for better shadowing, specular and things like that. Some games did or released updates that did. I think BF was one of them.
  8. I dont and never will. However can you say, if you have one, that you want to grant wifi access to your network to everyone listed as a 'friend'? For me its not about privacy. It is about security. Now people are going to have to spend more time controlling network access even tho this was meant to make things more convenient.
  9. If they arent careful MS can go the way of IBM.
  10. Dont disrespect James Bond. He has saved us countless times from groups bent on global domination. Check out this article. Why is it that people find out about these things only after the fact? https://www.yahoo.com/tech/s/windows-10-may-share-wi-164057617.html
  11. Conservatives are just as stupid as liberals. All depends on whether or not some story refers so something they already want to believe. Even if its insane.
  12. It's all about choices. To get hardwired they gave up something else. If this is going to cause a problem for everybody I will revisit it. Get together and take a vote one way or the other.
  13. If it were that close the nade wouldnt have gone off. Just bounced. Tubes were designed that way from the beginning.
  14. pc vs xbox wont happen. Not enough money to be had to justify the expense. Both for MS and the developers.
  15. I dont recall the thread, but find the one that has the perk layout for the next update.
  16. They used to kill you if you shot them. Like clays. But it wasnt really fair because claymores didnt move. The reason for the different EMP attacks is because of the stacked streaks, easy streak requirements (especially with hardline), relatively large blast radius and the difficulty to defend against them by simply shooting them. But no they are not too powerful anymore. Even so, most of the time I see it get a kill. I think once today there were five enemy cars running around at the same time. Thats a damn lotta cars.
  17. To help your team use this to kill the cars: If you know one is coming, both by the announcement and the sound of the car itself, place yourself in a protected area. Such as an area that your team controls. Remain visible at short range only to avoid snipers. Throw the counter measures mine at your feet and stay within its radius. Get the car see you so it will try and get you. Maybe move away from the mine, wait for the car to start following you, then move back. Maybe shoot at it to get its attention. The cars are mighty fast so dont go too far away. The goal is to not just protect yourself but to lure it in, kill it, and protect your team. Then pick the mine back up and move on. Remember there is a 30 second recharge time. For added protection get Hardwired so you dont get affected by your own mine and to allow more freedom of movement since it cannot blow itself up. Voila no more car. Saved me from five cars in one match today. And more importantly, saved my teammates from them. Yes I designed it with this in mind.
  18. G13 is a pretty light mod. Might want to reupload to both the redirect and server just in case something is corrupted. And anyone that has the map rename the folder to download it again.
  19. Mystery solved.
  20. My thoughts to your thoughts.....
  21. And what the communists tell the Chinese. Or the mullahs tell the Iranians. Not examples I prefer to follow. As for opting not to buy or install it, people say that every time. But we all know that you eventually have to or migrate entirely to osx or linux. Assuming either has the software you need and you have the money to buy it all again, for Apple. How many of you still use XP or Vista as your primary OS? What will you do when Win7 is no longer supported? Or if certain software you need is only compatible with win8 or above (and eventually 10)? Remember that any personal data stored on MS servers can be hacked into by the Chinese. They do it all the time. Like some did to Sony. Both for their entertainment divisions (by NK) or playstation accounts. Also like they did to the IRS. And of course we do it to them. You can say the Chinese, Iranians or whatever dont care about you. That may be true. But that attitude shouldnt be forced on everyone else. Sure these things can be turned off. But remember this is Windows. Things can be turned on again by hackers and malware. Which in turn redirect information not to MS but somewhere else. Also keep in mind that our own government has its own political shenanigans. Perhaps keywords like 'tea party' and 'money' in what you say and write.
  22. Thats not like listening into your private phone conversations or reading your emails. As for the old 'nothing to hide' argument, sorry this country doesnt work that way. We are under no obligation to show the government anything at all. It is up to them to explain why they need something. 1st amendment protections and all of that nonsense.
