  1. Downloading both and I'll run md5 on them anyways to make sure. Will post the results when I have them. In cases like this is is always best to upload both in case the redirect one is corrupt. Be sure to delete your local copy in your usemaps folder so you download it again. I ran the map at home on the mod, which is a mirror of the mod online, on a dedi server at home and it seems to rotate rounds ok. It is easy for stuff to get corrupt and one little difference can cause a problem.
  2. I used a similar program, I forget the name, long ago that had the same kind of visual representation. Quite helpful in finding out what was using most of the storage space.
  3. That is also a big issue because sometimes different versions of maps actually have the same names. Or one server may have customized something by replacing an image (such as clan logos by the map maker) or taking out a sound. But when on a different server with the same but unaltered map it can cause problems. One reason why some mappers include special checks on map load to make sure they havent been altered. If so they dont load.
  4. As a bit of a distraction I played bots in UT2K4. Fraghouse Invasion, if anyone knows what that is, and Domination. I wasnt in the mood to get online. But it made me wonder why its so hard to get people to play a map or two of another gametype instead of ftag all the time. Why not set the next map in a rotation to be Domination, S&D or something else and the one after that return to Freezetag? Or simply put it to a bit of a vote of sorts and ask an admin to switch it for one map? I will be honest and say playing nothing but ftag in cod4 gets boring. It would be like eating the same food every day. Or watching nothing but the SciFi channel 24/7/365. After awhile you become Alex having your eyes forced open and eyedrops being put in so you cannot look away. Im just curious why that is. Other servers were set up for different gametypes now and then. Say if people wanted to play something else for a couple maps they could all migrate there for half an hour then back when done. Of course it never worked. Is it that people just dont want to play anything else? Or is it simply which server is populated? Sometimes I think the ftag gametype would be better served by not recording any kill or death scores at all. Only defrosts and round wins/loses. But it wouldnt work with having killstreaks.
  5. Hehe. Good story but not true. Actually had to do with a camping trip one summer and there was this scout master..... just kidding. In all seriousness I got my start in MP on sniper servers on big maps where camping was the name of the game but you still moved around when appropriate to outflank your enemies and find a good position. Especially when you shot an enemy. It would be more appropriately be called stealth. You also got very good at using sound to look for your enemies. Some people today seem to call that whoring and cheating. My how the world has changed. Anyways perhaps this helps show why I have a problem with a few cod4 campers here and there. A different point of view in what that kind of thing really is. Or should be. As a sniper I would move now and then. It was the smart thing to do. Some players here wont budge an inch when they find their favorite spot then pick a small area to stare at. I suppose it also depends where people started playing the most. If its S&D/Domination/CTF they cant stand the non-team action of TDM. More often than not the T is there just for show. If its TDM-first they cant stand having to spend their time capturing or destroying objectives. Its almost painful. Their only goal is to kill as many enemies as possible. Perferably with WMDs. They based wins on whether or not you can get 30 kills or more. Otherwise you suck. Ftag is certainly a team game but I wonder how many in the server dont give a damn what team wins or loses. Only what their personal kill score is. The easy answer I suppose is to say I am playing the wrong gametype. Maybe that is true. Unfortunately getting most people here to play anything other than TDM based games, ftag or not, even for a minor diversion is a real chore even if its all there ready to go.

  7. Sometimes downloading the mod again, as well as the map, can take care of it if something got corrupted and the 'mismatch' thing is the error given. But yes hopefully the update is helping a bit with other reasons due to having too many characters in iwd filenames. On round changes some iwds are double-loaded again, engine thing, and will only show up then. There are other reasons but usually they would kick on every map not just a few.
  8. This is true. I have tried other things that didnt work well or were simply not fun. But in those cases I didnt have to take it out before trying out the changes to make it better. However I understand the issue wasnt how well it would work but whether or not the idea itself was acceptable and fair. Snipers were exempt because they are supposed to camp by their very nature. The argument didnt go anywhere.
  9. It does. Unfortunately its the only way I can get the car to work in cod4. Long ago modders used to be able to change that but it was hard coded in the engine due to hackers.
  10. I added it as an incentive to promote more defrosting. I dont know if it worked in that regard. The idea of limiting it to 50 is that amount is good enough to stop one round from an assault rifle, sniper or lmg.
  11. It had a body armor award for defrosting. Up to a maxium of 50 points allowed for getting armor that way. So for a 'helper' of sorts it can already be enabled. iirc correctly, those people that defrosted a lot more than they killed liked it. Those that were the other way around didnt like it. Cramped their style.
  12. Better off getting a perk that helps prevent you from getting frozen in the first place. It is much more useful.
  13. At the moment I am rewriting some things to add the 10-20 point silent player bonus to go along with all the other things. So far it all seems ok just need to shoot a lot more bots first. The termination things will also still be there if in the future everyone wants to give it a try. Sometimes there is nothing wrong with slapping a player with a trout. edit: Forgot to say, other mods have a variation of anti-camping where it takes away all your weapons and turns you into a chicken.
  14. Well... ok I didnt mean it like that. Except that there is nothing wrong with saying a game sucks for not handing something well, so I will stop talking about it. Good intentions and all of that. But if people cant voice their opinion... such as saying I hate noob tubers or people that place all their claymores in spawn areas... then there is something wrong. Otherwise its like Communism. You can complain about how a factory functions and how inefficient it is, so long as you dont blame the Party or its apparatus. TBO I am upset because I spent an entire day recoding it all to add all the various alterations and exceptions wanted and didnt get a chance to even upload it and see how it worked. I am not going to remove it from the mod because quite frankly I think the idea behind it is fun, not punitive, and mixes things up but it will be an option for other servers to use if they want.
  15. To you its balsy. To me its cheap. But that has to do more with the maps and how spawns are distributed than the theory. On a large map with reasonably well dispersed spawns then have at it. The two spawn areas in Backlot are a good example of what not to do. One is nice and open, tho the spawns should have been in the parking lot, while the other is almost a killing box. Some players seem to forget that spawn protection is something modders added to help with situations like that. Also something some players consider cheating. They consider it as giving an unfair advantage to their enemies even tho both sides have it. I understand this is a long time sever and making rule changes, if it can be called that, is a very big deal. However sometimes rules have to be tweaked if there is a general feeling of unhappiness. In this case I am certainly in a minority. Likely a very small minority. But it doesnt mean I am wrong. Only means most people dont care.
  16. It depends on the map certainly. Doesnt currently help if the player is doing something like changing classes and it stops while is he standing there. Or areas that are spawn trapped. So there are always exceptions and the question is do you say too bad or do something about it. This is almost like a First Amendment case in court and they battle over where the limits are because some small group is upset that they cant use their 'rights' to affect the lives of other people. Its not a free-for-all.

  18. Uh, no. There are campers and there are campers. Perhaps you dont care when some loser does nothing but hide prone in the grass underneath a walkway shooting everybody. But I do. Keep in mind there are quite a few here that consider stealing care packages without permission a kickable offense. A bit two-faced if you ask me. You can camp like a teenage girl scout around the fire roasting marshmellows but you cant take someone else's care package.
  19. There were some discussions and I was told that the consensus was to turn it off. So I did. I recommended however to keep the bonus part in a reduced form. If you do seriously camp and are shot then a bonus will be given to the attacker. 10 or 20 points. Campers dont have to give two shits about it since they will be unaffected and can epoxy their feet to the ground if they want.
  20. Yes. Which is why a solution like that is problematic for cod players. How do you separate bunnies from the others. Even so is it reasonable to say your aim would be off by the act of either jumping off the ground or jumping out of window? The random idea isnt meant to be tactical realism, just to handle situations where players want to be Neo in a military shooter. A similar thing was made up for dolphin divers or quick prone. Messed up your aim just a bit. I remember the quick scoper thing in BO I think is was and the whiners. To them it is reasonable to immediately bring up a heavy rifle up to your eye with no change in where it is aiming. Good thing they didnt add gravity otherwise there would be complaints about bullets that actually dropped as they flew. COD4 is an arcade game but it doesnt have to be Mortal Kombat.
  21. Some mods do that by messing up your aim a bit in a random direction if you jump. So while in the air you would have to recenter your target again. Of course bunnies hate that because they think the act of jumping shouldnt affect where you are looking.
