I had a whole post written up for @@ChknFngr but deleted before posting. Some battles you just have to decide whether to go into or just lob the MOAB into the middle of it and be done. I thought I already did that with my previous post, but whatever. Labob once again did a great job of stating the position I was going to anyway, so it all got said just the same. Good on 'ya, Labob. But... You know the real threat to any computer? The person sitting behind the keyboard, that's who! Yes, there are some attacks that come from directions that are out of the realm of the user's control, but the VAST majority of infections come at the hands of someone who let their guard down. Let their vigilance slip. Believed a hoax was real. Clicked before thinking (and then immediately thought, "FUCK!!!") You name it, but the person behind the keyboard is almost always ultimately at fault and could have avoided the attack. Just be careful what you do. Don't live your on-line life in fear, suit up your computer in reasonable armor, and then get out there and have fun. That's just my $0.02; take it or leave it in the take a penny, leave a penny dish at the checkout.
  2. 3:31 of my life I'll never get back. WTF?
  3. Total piece of functional art right there. But at the end of the day, all that's required is moving heat. Seems like a lot of superfluous money invested in doing something that less pretty equipment could do equally well for a fraction of the cost. Just sayin', and it's my flat busted broke ass mentality talking too boot, so feel free to ignore me.

Labob is correct. And let's be serious - who better to know the threat vectors better than Microsoft. That is, who better to protect Windows than Microsoft themselves. Do not run multiple AV programs together - that's redundant, wasteful of computer resources, and may conflict in unexpected ways. That's conventional wisdom from way back, and it frankly just makes sense. Do not download MS Security Essentials from Major Geeks or anywhere other than from Microsoft here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download If you're on Win8 - forgetaboutit. It's already installed and should be running. No additional AV required. Check the security app in the Control Panel if you need to verify that. Where is the XP version of MSSE? Doesn't exist. Who cares? XP is dead. Not supported. Move on. Or use Avast or some other 3rd party freeware.
  5. With trash like that, who needs a trailer?
  6. It's great for getting the paper! Because BigPapaDean needed yet another phone number to call.
  7. Titty Bear is a WAY more appropriate name, if you ask me. See if you don't think so too within the first few seconds.
  8. Watch out! I just got a "weekly status update" from Facebook that wasn't from Facebook. Get it? Fraudulent look-alike emails are big these days. Check the links BEFORE you click or else you'll be like
  9. See if YOU'LL be the wiener !
  10. Not the EuroClub, no, no, it's the UroClub! Get yours today!
  11. Way to be PC there, Keg.
  12. Dumb fucks! But, hey, that's what's insurance is for. Hopefully you can replace what's gone missing - perhaps with some upgraded stuff to keep up with the times.

    help

Start in Safe Mode w/ Networking (tapping the F8 key immediately after the power-on self test) and see if you can get in that way. Then use msconfig.exe to eliminate unnecessary programs at boot-up. You can add them back in one at a time if necessary to figure out what's going amuck. Could be anything. Rogue program. Corrupt video driver... Who knows, but these are the initial steps you need to take.
  14. lol. (But I'm an Idiot so to took me a while to realize this was while letters on a white background; I thought the page was blank there for a while. )
  15. Well God knows we've all heard enough legal "blah blah blah" on the TV where pelvic mesh surgeries go, so my biggest hope is that the surgery she had was performed expertly and does not lead to residual lifelong discomfort. Thanks for the update, Johnny. Shamu is missed in the games.
  16. Welcome aboard, Idiot!

  20. Not the band's original video, that's for sure. But go 1080p, kick back, and enjoy some cool visuals to go with this classic tune.
  21. Almost impossible for me. Here's some favorites that come to mind, but there's so many more... Drama: Angel Eyes, Pleasantville (real toss up there, leaning toward Pleasantville) Sci-Fi: Serenity, Star Trek Reboot, The Last Starfighter, Contact, Avatar, Enemy Mine... Comedy: Easy A (hands-down favorite!), Arthur, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Steve Carey and Taylor Momsen), Action: Speed, Predator
