  1. Finally replaced the wallpaper I've had on my computer for what seems like forever. Here's my new one, actual file attached in case you want a better look. That's the X-Plane 10 flight simulator, btw, and that's the Northeast Philadelphia area close to airport KPNE.
  2. @FlyingDutch - no. This is not reversible without a decryption key. RansomWare has evolved. There is actually a client/server cryptography engine in this payload. It encrypts files. Once encrypted, you must have the engine and the key from the server to recover those files. I'm not suggesting anyone pay the ransom, but this is effectively no different from viruses that delete or format hard drives. It is almost certainly going to cost you massive data loss if you're infected. Yes you can remove the virus, but removing the virus still leaves you with encrypted, and therefore useless files. Once this badboy has done it's work, you're effectively fucked. As the article points out, the biggest threat is through the social engineering that compels you to take some action out of fear, or even just because you think it's legitimate. I get tons of spam from the USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc., containing "shipping information" or "missed delivery" notifications. Now what it you really had ordered something and got one of these notices at just about the right time? Or what if you actually have an account with Wells Fargo or Chase bank and got an email that appears to be a dead ringer for the legitimate emails you normally get from them. Only this time, you're being told there seemed to be a suspicious attempt to access your account and that you should do this or that to verify the security of your account. I've stopped dead in my tracks more than once and for a moment pondered the authenticity of a message I'd received. But that's just what they're hoping for - a knee-jerk reaction. Pull the trigger - open that file, click that link. BOOM!
  3. So this evening I went to the movies. (Alone. I live a lonely life. Blah, blah, blah. Tiny violins... I digress.) Saw Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks. Okay, first - AWESOME MOVIE !!! For the love of God, SEE IT !!! Started out kind of slow, and even after quite a while I was wondering if it would ever get better. IT DID - in a BIG way! Love movies like that, you know, the ones that kind of creep up on you and slowly but surely take your breath away? This one does that in spades. There was a woman and a couple of teen boys sitting in the row in front of me. She was one chair to my left. A couple of times during the show fairly early on, she was actually firing up her cell phone! Not to talk on, but apparently to check email or send a text. I fucking hate that kind of shit. Don't they barrage you enough with the "Turn your cell phone OFF - it's rude and distracting" messages before the movie begins? You'd think people would get it right? Well, no. I guess not. So there we are and the action is really heating up now and the show is getting really intense and quite loud. And there from the next row comes on that bright white light again! I really did my best to just let it go and try to remain engaged in the movie. Soon enough though, it became apparent that she wasn't going to get done any time soon, and I realized that my level of distraction was becoming quite an annoyance. One that I couldn't just put aside. And so I kicked her chair REAL HARD !!! After she scraped herself off the ceiling, she turned around and I supposed tried to say something. Kind of hard to tell over the intense action, so I yelled at her "TURN IT OFF!!" She looked away for a moment, then looked back between the seats again, so I just snarled one final command quite loudly, enunciating each word slowly and clearly, "TURN AROUND !!!" She did, and that fucking cell phone did not come out again. Bitch. I will not allow inconsiderate little self-absorbed fuck-tards spoil my enjoyment of a movie I made the effort to drive several miles and spent money to see. That is the first time I've done something that drastic, but it felt completely justified and intensely rewarding. I won't hesitate to do it again.
  4. Yeah, and it might also be a good idea to turn the dreaded User Account Control back ON if you have it off. See here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off
  5. I really just don't understand why we, as a society, permit this bullshit to continue. ICANN is absolutely worthless in enforcing the policy directives of the internet in this regard. Just look here - http://www.knujon.com/index.html#policyfailure Somehow, though, we just shrug our shoulders while spam, telemarketers, malware, and virus hackers destroy the lives of those around us. I find it recklessly insane to just blow it all off the way society does. I mean, what? It's too big? All the spammers are too elusive? How long will we make excuses for sticking our head in the sand and pretending we can't do anything?
  6. There's really no choice there - You can always have your bacon and boobies together.
  7. This came to my attention today. BE CAREFUL PEOPLE !!! http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/cryptolocker-a-particularly-pernicious-virus/
  8. Of course it's already been picked for you. Good Luck!

  10. I made the decision that I really wanted mechanical keys for their durability and responsive feel. I have not been disappointed in that respect. WAY better than membrane keyboards in my opinion. I looked at the Corsair K90, but some of its keys are not mechanical, but the main keyboard (the QWERTY part) is all mechanical. The K95 is supposed to be entirely mechanical, but is in all other respects just a better K90. Same exact layout, though. Because I already have a Logitech G13 Game Pad, and a Logitech Performance MX cordless mouse, I decided to stay with Logitech just to keep from layering up a bunch of different vendors' custom input software. I figured all Logitech software for all input devices ought to play well with each other. So that meant I had to go with the G710+ keyboard with its Cherry Brown MX key switches. Love them! But it's not a perfect keyboard. Logitech stupidly put the shifted characters on the top row of number keys BELOW the numbers. And, although the keys are backlit, they did not backlight the shifted characters on that row of keys, nor any other key that has a shifted character printed on the key - [/ ?] for instance. I have no clue what possessed them to do such a bone-headed thing, and it's not something you notice when you look at the layout before you get one in your hands. I did try the Corsair M95 mouse. Didn't like it. If I had loved it, I probably would have waited for the K95 keyboard. At the time I picked up my G710+, the K95 was still only announced and had an expected ship date kind close to when I bought my G710+. But since the mouse failed to delight, I went back to my Logitech Performance MX mouse and ordered the G710+. I am very satisfied with my decision, aside from the stupid number row keys. Here's the G710+ for your consideration: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009C98NPY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B009C98NPY&linkCode=as2&tag=girlsrockradi-20 .
  11. That was their solution? I'll say this: those Canadians are brilliant! Why dismember the penis when they could give it a good man-scaping instead?
  12. Dementia is so common these days and it robs families of the quality time they deserve with their loved ones in their final days. The same happened to my mom, so I understand your sadness on at least that level. Please take care of yourself in this time of grief. I know that's not easy, but you did all that could have been humanly asked of you. No shame in indulging yourself, even in the smallest of ways. Sorry for your loss.
  13. This user has created an appeal with the following information. Sent by: djMot Sent on: 15 October 2013 - 05:06 PM Game server: COD5 BlackOps & DM In-game name: CrunchyBones / Winchester73 Appeal details: As I said in teamspeak, my son plays on my computer as Winchester73, I play as Crunchybones, he was banned the other night, no reason, no message or nothing. And I know for a fact, since it's my computer, there isnt any funny business going on. I tried your new Black ops mod server on cod 5 today somewhere around 4:00 pm and was kicked banned also for no reason, I want to know what exactly is wrong. No one on my computer cheats, especially me, so I want to appeal this ban and have it lifted, I feel it was unfair, "In my opinion..I am sending this to djMot as he requested on teamspeak, my email is [email protected] Thanks

  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Apparently you haven't been watching "Revolution."
  17. Can't fault this, but I can fault the whole female full body cavity search back to front without even a change of gloves thing. http://www.wsmv.com/story/23600514/mcdonalds-implement-new-dress-code?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=9374931

  20. Well, it's probably a great mod, but I guess I was a little disappointed to find it's another freeze tag mod. Maybe I'm getting the wrong signals, or maybe just too narrow an opinion pool, but it seems there's strong interest in a "normal" paced COD4 mod. Ace is great fun, but sometimes seems ridiculously fast - which may be why it's great fun, to some that is. But I hear from others that it's just too fast and they don't want to play it, but would play a less hectic mod if available. Don't know how many FT servers we need. Aren't there 2 each already in both COD4 and COD5?
  21. Ah yes, another fine example of the fascination between boys, fast cars, and large ( . ) ( . ) Off color language at the end a bonus.
